Back from a 2-year burnout! 😅 hey 👋 #buildinpublic Back here after the weirdest period of my life. 😆 About 2 years ago (exactly 2 years in 3 days), I took a break from X. I was honestly just trying to take a 2–3 day break, but somehow I couldn’t bring myself to post again. Looking back, I think I was simply exhausted from all the frantic building I had been doing. So I never came back. Days turned into months. Months turned into a year… and then more. The saddest part about that time was that I would still log in and see everyone going hard — shipping things, launching products, building companies — and there I was… just… mhmm. I honestly don’t even know what I was doing. 🤔 I would doom-scroll YouTube watching founder stories and startup content on @founderstorypod and others. Tutorial after tutorial about random startup topics… but without actually building anything. The lie I told myself was: “I’m learning.” And sure, I was learning — but in vain, because I wasn’t implementing anything. Tutorial purgatory, I guess they call it. Now that I think about it, I probably saw it coming. I had read so many burnout stories here before. People I started this journey with also disappeared, and I always wondered what happened to them. Maybe they got busy. But maybe… maybe they were just tired too. SAD. This is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone — not even my worst enemy. Anyway, I’m back now. Ready to engage again and contribute to the community. And thank you to everyone who DM’d me while I was away to check in. That meant a lot. BTW, I’m currently building LaunchInAfrica — a startup that does exactly what the name suggests: "Helping startups launch in the African market." More on that soon. Glad to be back ☺️🚀

Got a piece of that Reddit backlash Yesterday 😂 Yesterday i made a little experiment on Reddit. I had an old project i made for a client that i turned into a SaaS. I then searched niche subreddits that match the product, then posted it in there🤣🤣 the post went mini-viral -- 3k views in like an hour .... But all i got was an angry mob of people - Despite that backlash, however, a few other people also reached out and liked to work with me on the project, and now we are having a conversation. So at the end of the day, a W is a W !😂

@dev_guid The Build in public subreddit. I think the community allows self-promotion - because people there be sharing their ideas and essentially giving product updates ... things would be different in a subreddit like SaaS

I have had a @Reddit account for more than 5 years, but never really used it. Am now considering using it for B2B startups. Anyone in #buildinpublic ever used it with good results /?

@jasper_yy Thank you Jasper , I really appreciate that. Tutorial purgatory is exhausting because it feels productive, but nothing actually materialises from that. 😅

Welcome back! This is so raw and relatable. "Tutorial purgatory" is a real trap—that illusion of progress is often more exhausting than actual building. Glad you broke the cycle. Launching in the African market sounds like a massive, meaningful challenge. Can't wait to see LaunchInAfrica take shape.
