@Cookie_and_Alan I would have loved to have served in Germany… applied for multiple posts there, but every time I applied, there were no positions available, then they started closing places down. Finally got accepted for Gütersloh, when they announced that was to go too 🤣🤣

@Technical_Sarge Just noticed you are a fellow ATC…. You probably understand, my shock at the realization that there were four airports, in my soon to be area of responsibility…. I only had to control three of them, whew, what a relief.

While I have your attention, I have another little Berlin story to tell. You see, I wasn’t supposed to come to Berlin at all. When a person joins the Air Force, they have to take an aptitude test, to see which career field they are best suited for. According to my aptitude test, I was suited for Air Traffic Control, Law Enforcement or intelligence ( also known as spying). I chose Air Traffic Control as my career field, because, well, it sounded cool.

@Cookie_and_Alan God yeah, especially after coming out of the factory. I know our training facility only has the one airfield, so to rock up and see four 🤣🤣 I can imagine. Bloody love the memory though, it just proved that sometimes you’ve gotta take the risk/leap and make your own luck.

@BFBSRadioHQ @DanniGOfficial Sadly I’ve been on twice without realising - both on Sky News. The first was as part of the Air Security activity as part of the Olympics, as we controlled the Typhoons over London. The second was following the disappearance of MH370; they used stock footage of how ATC works 😂😂
