@emmanuelbasy Showing up after a mistake and still delivering is a skill most people underestimate.

A jobseeker missed her interview last week.
No show. No message.
Then today, Sunday, she sent an apology email.
I replied and asked if she was available in the next 30 minutes to have her interview.
She said “Yes” and showed up.
We had the interview.
Not only did she pass… she outshined candidates I had interviewed earlier.
You would think she had days to prepare.
She had just 30 minutes and she nailed it.

@EbimoboereArir1 The honesty part is the hardest. Especially when it means admitting the thing holding you back isn't your skill. It's how you see yourself.

@CynthiaOzumba Number 4 honestly. A generic summary tells a recruiter you didn't read the job description. That's not the first impression you want.

Remove these things from your Resume. If you want to land remote jobs,
1. High school results/certs
(Keep Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD if you have them)
2. Random job experience that has nothing to do with the role
3. Your full street address
(City + country is enough for time zones)
4. A professional summary that doesn’t match the job
(If it’s not aligned, remove it completely)
Stop giving recruiters extra work.

If you’re a remote worker looking for experience to add to your CV, here are platforms where you can volunteer or intern covering Virtual Assistants, Graphic Designers, Social Media Managers, Project Managers, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics and a lot more.
NOTE: All free to join. None of these require payment to sign up or participate as a volunteer or intern.
VOLUNTEER PLATFORMS ‼️
1. Develop for Good (developforgood.org)
Teams of students and early-career professionals work directly with nonprofits on real projects. Roles include Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, Researchers, and Developers. Each project is mentor-supported and results in portfolio-ready work.
2. Idealist (idealist.org)
A go-to platform for finding volunteer and intern roles inside social-change organizations. It regularly lists remote openings across data, social media, project coordination, design, and virtual admin support with nonprofits globally. Applying is as simple as submitting a profile.
3. Taproot Foundation (taprootplus.org)
Taproot acts as a middleman between social impact organizations and skilled professionals. You can browse available projects or post your skills, and the platform connects you with pro-bono consulting opportunities across design, communications, strategy, project management, and more.
4. United Planet (unitedplanet.org)
Offers virtual internship and volunteer tracks across multiple fields including Virtual Office Assistance, Social Media & Content Management, Digital Marketing, and Project Coordination. Open to students and professionals worldwide Nigeria is actually one of their active virtual project countries.
5. Catchafire (catchafire.org)
One of the easiest sign-up processes out there. You can volunteer in various ways from a short 1-hour phone call to a 3-month scoped project, all remote. Nonprofits post needs across data analysis, graphic design, social media, digital marketing, admin support, and more. Great for building a diverse portfolio fast.

@CynthiaOzumba The gap between prepared and visible is where most opportunities get missed.

@Halosznn_ Clarity about your value does more work than a long list of experience ever could.

The job market is really bad right now.
Job seekers are tired, so most people apply for anything that pays.
I put out a sales vacancy earlier this week and saw designers, admins, and media managers all applying for the same role. That’s how bad it has gotten.
But applying for everything drains your energy and burns you out faster.
If you must apply for roles outside your field, tailor another version of your resume/cv and highlight transferable skills.
If you’re moving from design to admin, drop the design-heavy language.
Highlight client communication, scheduling, documentation, and task follow-through.
If you’re a media manager moving to sales, don’t lead with content calendars or posting.
Talk about audience insight, lead generation, conversions, and how your content drove inquiries or sales.
Also, adjust your role titles to reflect what you’re applying for
A “Social Media Manager” moving into sales can present as
“Growth Associate” or “Sales Support.”
Same experience, different positioning.

@CynthiaOzumba You never really know who is paying attention.

@Blossomaffia Grace for yourself is part of the process too. Keep going.
