@elenadesaa1999 I usually read through books like Louis Lamour's or mysteries in a single sitting, maybe 4 hours max. A technical book takes much longer.

@reddit_lies Simpler solution - automatic death penalty for committing a violent crime or threatening to while carrying a gun. Only one appeal allowed. Otherwise you are left alone.

@Rainmaker1973 Got nothing to do with "biology". For most of human history adults and teenagers worked from before sunup until after sundown. Daylight was the only light they had, hence the instruction "don't burn daylight". Staying up half the night makes you sleep half the day.

Starting school at 10:00 a.m. instead of earlier times aligns with teenagers’ biology and delivers striking benefits.
A study found that shifting the school day to a 10 a.m. start reduced student illness by more than 50% over two years. When schools reverted to an 8:50 a.m. start, illness rates spiked by 30%, showing just how strongly school schedules affect adolescent health. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has long recommended later start times for this reason.
Beyond improved health, the change also produced clear academic gains: a 12% increase in students making significant progress — the equivalent of 20% of the national benchmark.
By respecting the natural circadian rhythms of teenagers, who tend to be night owls, later start times help students get more sleep, arrive more alert, and perform better. This simple, low-cost adjustment offers a powerful, science-backed way to support both the physical well-being and academic potential of the next generation.

@thesunabove1 I doubt most black people can do it either. Or red or yellow.

@gotrice2024 In a town near me, the stores started playing classical music to prevent kids loitering in front of stores. It worked!
English

Everyday after school, this McDonald’s was bombarded with kids loitering and hanging out, a few may buy something but most of them don’t. There were instances of fighting, some were being loud and vandalizing the restaurant as well.
The restaurant took action and hired a security guard and imposed a new rule saying that if you are under 20 you cannot enter without a parent. The guard even checks ID’s to enforce their rule.
Many of the kids were upset that this happened and they are calling for a boycott, it’s not like they are doing this without their own reasons behind it. Do you think they are being unfair to these kids who only want to treat it like a hangout?

@DavidJHarrisJr More to the point, they probably live in inner cities, where they don't need either.
