A Kenyan by the name Elias Wekesa has taken Safaricom to court, and every Kenyan should pay attention. He says Safaricom deactivated his line after it stayed inactive for a few months, then reassigned it to another person. When he tried using it again, he was met with a shock. The number was gone. Worse, he says he could no longer receive OTPs from his bank and other platforms tied to that number. This case matters because it touches every Kenyan. Because your phone number is no longer just a number. It is tied to your bank account. Your email. Your work accounts. Your private life. The moment that number is handed to someone else, the risks begin. OTPs can go elsewhere. Recovery codes can land in another person’s hands. Account alerts can reach a stranger. That person is not just holding a SIM card. They may be holding access to parts of your digital life. And if they have bad intentions, the damage can be immediate. And for families who have lost loved ones, it cuts even deeper. A parent’s number. A sibling’s number. A loved one’s number. One day, it holds memories. The next day, it belongs to a stranger. This is why Safaricom must be forced to create stronger safeguards before reassigning numbers. Because in today’s world, a phone number is not disposable. It is identity. And identity should never be reassigned without protection.

But you will agree with me that neither the tarmac road to his village nor the electricity connection of his wamunyoro home to the National grid is attributable to devolution. I’ve been following the debate on why roads in Mt Kenya seem better than in other parts of Kenya, and some are calling it "Kikuyu privilege." I know some won’t like this, but here’s how I see it: It has nothing to do with Kikuyu privilege. Since devolution began, every county has received funds for development roads, schools, water, etc, for over 10 years. So ask yourself: what have your county leaders done with that money? We even have the Equalization Fund to uplift poorer regions. So why are some counties still lagging behind while others are miles ahead? Look at Murang’a under Irungu Kang’ata, roads everywhere. Then check Kwale or Kakamega, same structure, same access to funds, different outcomes. The difference is in leadership and priorities. If "Kikuyu privilege" was the reason, then Rift Valley would be shining by now. Moi ruled for 24 years, Ruto has been President for 3 yet go see what Turbo or Kosachei look like. The truth? Mt Kenya tends to elect leaders who deliver. They may appear loud or controversial in public, but on the ground, they push for roads, water, and schools. In that region, voters judge performance, not sub-tribe or slogans. You lose an election for failing to deliver, not because of your Kikuyu sub-tribe. Elsewhere, tribal politics still dominates. In Kakamega, some vote purely along Isukha/Idakho/Tiriki / Maragoli etc lines. In North Eastern, it’s clan-based. When leaders know they’ll win regardless of results, why would they fix roads? They just come and say, “I’m from your tribe,” and that’s enough. In other regions, some leaders must prove loyalty to political parties rather than to citizens. For example, in some places , you just have to kneel infront or raila , be a friend of raila and that is it . When election comes they move around telling people to vote for all odm candidates coz that way will be helping baba. As a result such people know they dont have to win elections . They just have to say baba tosha . And they are many . From homabay , to kilifi etc Even after 10 years of zero delivery, they’re re-elected because it’s about party loyalty, not performance. And another thing, most leaders focus on county HQs and capital towns because that’s what visitors see. That’s why areas near Nairobi and HQs look good while the outskirts are forgotten. So before rushing to shout "Kikuyu privilege," let’s be honest, the real problem is mindset, priorities, and accountability. No Kikuyu decides who you elect in your county. Governors misuse public funds, and we let them. If we changed how we vote, demanded results over tribe, Kenya would look completely different. 🇰🇪

Tunaibiwa ⛓️ I have just uncovered what appears to be another ghost hospital in Mandera that was paid over 8 million by SHA/Taifa Care in June. Its name is Ayale Medicare & Nursing Home. For some reason, it didn’t receive payments in April or May, only in June. No payments were made in July or August. The hospital has no pictures or digital trail. According to MOH, it’s supposedly located next to Red Cross, but locals confirm it doesn’t exist. Funny thing, it’s listed as a Level 3 hospital yet received more money than Mandera County Hospital and over half of the other county hospitals. It even received more funds than some busy hospitals in Nairobi. Another red flag: the hospital was registered on 3rd March and approved the very next day, 4th March 2022, just before the elections. This strongly suggests there was already a plan to loot using SHA. On the map you see in the pic, that's where it's said to be. But locals say it doesn't exist And even if it did exist , there is no way a level 3 hospital in mandera in 2025 would be taking in 8 million in a month yet it has no theatre and has less than 50 beds etc Tunaibiwa I guess now you understand why Duale says what he says.

Governors do not earn KSh 13 billion. That is the county budget, not their payslip. If your legal mind can’t distinguish between a salary and a budget, then you’re not a “stupid lawyer” but a dangerous one. Oversight is not about payslips, it is about law, structure, and accountability. The Constitution never said: “Thou shalt only be oversighted by those who earn more than you.” By your logic, we should dissolve Parliament because MPs earn less than the national budget, or shut down the Auditor General because her salary is not equal to what she audits. Osoro, you are confusing arithmetic with governance. Next time, before you open your loud mouth, ask yourself: Am I speaking as a legislator, or as the village comedian?
