The mosque in which the Prophet (ṣallāLlāhu 'alayhi wa sallam) performed the prayer for rain (Ṣalāt al-Istisqā’), Eid prayers and Janazah is known as Al-Ghamamah Mosque. It is located close to the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. It was named Al-Ghamamah Mosque (“The Mosque of the Cloud”) because a cloud reportedly shaded the Prophet (ṣallāLlāhu 'alayhi wa sallam) while he was praying there. It also became famous as one of the places where the Prophet performed the Eid prayers and the prayer for rain. It is reported that the Prophet went out to the prayer ground outside the Prophet’s Mosque to perform Ṣalāt al-Istisqā’, where he led the people in two rakʿahs and supplicated to Allah for rain. Allah then answered his supplication. Among the well-known supplications he (ṣallāLlāhu 'alayhi wa sallam) made during Istisqā’ was: “Allāhumma aghithnā, Allāhumma aghithnā, Allāhumma aghithnā.” “O Allah, help us" i.e. send us rain. O Allah, send us rain. O Allah, send us rain.” The Prophet (ṣallāLlāhu 'alayhi wa sallam) would also increase in humility, repentance, and seeking forgiveness while asking Allah for rainfall, because rain is among the mercies of Allah upon His servants. #hajjwithZabfat
