SRH Missed the trick here. Avesh Khan hit the ball with the bat before the ball reached the boundary line. Which is a clear violation of the rule. According to the ICC rule book. Anyone not part of the fielding side (like substitutes, support staff, or teammates sitting outside) must NOT interfere with the ball. This falls under “Unfair Play" So umpires will apply: Law 20.1 (Dead Ball) Law 41 (Unfair Play) And award 5 penalty runs to the fielding side. Which means LSG would have needed 6 runs of 2 balls if SRH would have appealed.
