My honest take on @AbstractChain XP update Yesterday the Abstract team completely changed their XP distribution They nerfed almost all XP for holding any NFT collection For many users this cutted their XP by 99% People who got 30k a week are now down to only 500 And honestly this was a terrible move, let me explain why: The team explained it by saying "holding assets doesnt onboard new onchain users" and the market is changing along with the XP distribution rules This sounds even funnier considering @0xCygaar literally said a couple of weeks ago that XP distribution would change but not much Combined with zero team communication and harsh takes from mods in the Abstract discord, people raised a massive storm on CT From a pure business perspective I understand why XP for holding got nerfed I noticed this loophole a while ago where you could buy cheap NFTs and farm a lot of XP compared to other onchain activity But calling NFT holders useless usersis absolutely wrong I personally know tons of people who are only in the Abstract eco because of NFT collections Yes, they might not be very active onchain users, but you can't blame them for not being interested in other products on abstract These are regular CT users who backed abstract and held through all the recent fud But this update just nuked them completely, destroying both their XP and their portfolio value What do we have in the end? - A sudden update without any prior communication destroyed sentiment and user trust - NFT floors dropped by 50% in a single day - Core collections like fugz, bearish, and ruyui were heavily affected too These guys kept building and onboarding people to the chain, but the team didn't even bother to protect them in this nerf I feel like the abstract team is just improvising and has zero actual strategy right now Why not announce the XP changes in advance to soften the blow and prevent a panic dump? I don't know Why leave this distribution broken for over 1.5 years only to fix it when sentiment is literally at rock bottom? I don't know Why not phase it in gradually over 2-4 weeks so the market and users could adjust? I don't know Why not drop a new feature alongside the nerf to give people a reason to stay engaged and came back on chain? I don't know Some people think this nerf is bullish because it makes XP harder to get and more valuable on TGE, but I disagree Let's assume the Abstract TGE will be at the end of 2026 You had this loophole for 1.5 years and closed it with barely six months of farming left Meaning you only cut about 30% of the total potential XP for these users Does that 30% really make so much difference in XP value compared to the loss of audience and terrible sentiment? I don't think so If we look at the abstract dashboard from @zaddyfi the wallet distribution across tiers is actually fine Platinum tier only has 1300 wallets which is roughly 0.07% of the total user base So the scale of this abuse was minimal, maybe an extra 100 wallets in platinum and 10% more in Gold Was such nerf really better than a manual wipe? Definitely no This whole update is a completely illogical L move from the Abstract team The only right solution i see is clear communication from the team and Luca himself, a smoother phase-out for holding XP, and launching something new and massive to give users a real reason to come back And what are your thoughts on this update? 👇
