When communication is judged only by what we can observe, we risk overlooking what's happening beneath the surface. Every person deserves the opportunity to communicate and to be understood.

In this episode of Talk Tracks we breakdown why the assumption that spelling isn’t valid is incredibly harmful to nonspeakers. For too long, many nonspeakers have had their words questioned before they were ever heard. Every person deserves access to communication, the opportunity to be understood, and the right of having their voice taken seriously.💛

Becca Cramer didn't start this journey as a believer, she started as a skeptic. A former nuclear engineer, she approached The Telepathy Tapes by researching the evidence. As she explored the science surrounding spelling, apraxia, and nonspeaking autism, her perspective changed. Now she's an advocate for communication access and for looking beyond behavior. As Becca shares, many autistic individuals with apraxia know what they want to do, but the challenge is getting their bodies to do it. When we mistake motor challenges for choice or intent, we risk misunderstanding the person entirely. Listening begins when we stop assuming behavior tells the whole story. 💛
