Yesterday, President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe complained to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin about how Western countries favour Zambia and Malawi. 😂😂😂 Mnangagwa told Putin that he would like Russia to exploit agricultural and mining opportunities in Zimbabwe. Mnangagwa also complained about how the Americans are consolidating their relationship on the security front with Zambia. He said Zimbabwe needs Russia’s support for its defence needs.

I urge some Zimbabweans who are bashing South Africa’s court action to stop drawing false equivalences between South Africa taking Israel to the International Court of Justice, and South Africa’s role in Zimbabwe. We shouldn’t always entangle ourselves in everything and making it about ourselves, learn to step back. South Africa has done a lot for ordinary Zimbabweans giving them special visas that it never gave to any other countries except to Lesotho and maybe one or two other countries. Almost every Zimbabwean family has a relative or relatives working in South Africa. Inflammatory social media messages exposed ordinary hardworking Zimbabweans in South Africa to harms way especially now when immigration is an issue as South Africa heads to elections in May. The ANC is not South Africa, just as ZANUPF is not Zimbabwe. It's important to distinguish between political actions of a ruling party and recognise the complexity of international relations especially as they relate to the brutal massacres of thousands of people in Palestine. Equating ourselves to what is happening in Gaza and calling South Africa’s actions at The Hague hypocritical on account of the ANC unholy alliance with ZANUPF is insensitive. South Africa's involvement with Israel at the International Court of Justice doesn't necessarily equate to its role in Zimbabwe. Each situation has its unique context, so it is important not to generalise and oversimplify complex diplomatic matters. Pfuurwai nedzimwe nyaya ndapota hama dzangu.
