@Y_Savic_ Ichigo didn't have an energy attack until he learned Getsuga Tensho before his fight with Byakuya. All Reiatsu does in a fight is allow you to actually damage your opponent. Plus, Ikkaku praised Ichigo's ability as being near his own in early SS arc.

@Y_Savic_ While you could argue that Ichigo won against Ikkaku and Renji due to just being stronger than them, Kenpachi canonically limits himself to being roughly equal to his opponents at this point, and Byakuya was just stronger than Ichigo in their fight.

@Y_Savic_ Nameless fodder doesn't really matter. Ichigo, in the Soul Society arc after only a week of actual training, fought and defeated 4 master swordsmen with anywhere between hundreds to even 1000 years of experience with sword combat.

@PrinceKnowsBall Ichigo's one of three non-captain shinigami that are considered Zanjutsu masters. His swordsmanship was explicitely praised by Ikkaku, who is the primary instructor for the 11th's swordsmanship training.

Not only has Sasuke lived longer and used a sword longer than ichigo, but Sasuke is so skilled he’s taken on a pupil in Boruto who he’s then taught his swords skills to in 2 years.
