That’s how overwhelmed the system is right now. At Tennyson, we’re doing everything we can to keep kids here in Colorado with the families who love and support them.

After years of abuse, Olivia was hospitalized almost every week for mental health emergencies. Our therapists spent 14 hours a week with Olivia until hospitalizations became rare. Now, she is spending less time with us and more time with her friends! #childwelfare #Mentalhealth

Our teachers introduced her to books, histories, and role models that helped grow her confidence until she felt ready to leave Tennyson and graduate.

Gabby was in and out of the foster care system so she never had the chance to build an identity. She never learned about her African-American culture or how it could be empowering to be a Black Woman in America. So by the time she arrived here, she struggled with low self-esteem.

A stressful environment can leave a permanent imprint on developing brains. We can’t fix every problem in the world, but we can prevent so many future heartaches by giving every child strong and nurturing relationships.

90% of the kids we supported didn’t need a hospital or crisis center last year. That’s incredible considering hospitals reported a surge of kids needing emergency mental health care. Together, we are keeping our state’s most vulnerable kids safe and hopeful for the future.

Anthony's mom had to choose between him and his abusive stepdad. She chose his stepdad. He's now with loving family members, and thanks to Tennyson supporters, a certified clinician is helping Anthony rebuild trust with the grownups in his life.
