@ClariceElvina @MrMutantes And well done you, you did everything right and worked ever so hard. But so are we, and are we ever going to be able to retire at 66? For me, if I funnel 20% of my wages into a private pension I have a chance, but no eating out, coffee on the go or costs me either.

I won't be able to retire until I'm about 90 at this rate but God forbid Jane had to retire at 65 instead of 60 after being warned about it first in *checks notes* the 1990s

@MrMutantes Probably a good idea to take money from the poorest in society and give it to the wealthiest. Seems the right thing to do to Jane.

@DaRay38 @paulstray_62 @RadioGenoa Yeh, I guess killing people isn’t something that I think should happen in the streets. In the US guns are everywhere, in Europe that’s not the case, so police don’t need to gun people down routinely to protect themselves or others.

@implausibleblog So let’s just give everyone who strikes an inflation busting pay rise, then make some lovely cuts to something else, we’ll let the strikers choose the cuts. Then when inflation hits and the cost of living rises we can all strike again. Ad naseum.

Peter Kyle says resident doctors who are striking should be grateful for being paid £17.50 an hour Which is less that my cleaner chargers per hour Btw, The 28.9% pay rise he refers to is still below their 2008 salary in real terms Shame on Labour pitting the public against doctors

@RklbsFan @DoctorsVoteUK @wesstreeting Organise with a union and demand one from your employers. It’s your right to do so. Just because you haven’t been bothered to do that in the past doesn’t mean everyone else should follow your example.

@NicholasPitto @ab187_b @LidlGB @wesstreeting You know that it means either cuts elsewhere or a tax rise, it’s irrresponsible. Honestly I’m pretty surprised that you would put your patients at risk in these circumstances. Years of wage depression cannot be solved in one year, why do you think it can?

@ab187_b @TerminallyChimp @LidlGB @wesstreeting That’s for Wes & Keir to sort out, not a doctor and an anonymous account on X at 11:30pm Do I want any other staff to have a pay cut? Of course not Is it my job to figure this out? Also, not

No doctor working today is worth 21% less than in 2008. A first year doctor working through the night to give life saving treatment to all our loved ones is worth more than £18.62/hour All we are asking is they are paid £22.67/ hour. It’s a bargain @LidlGB @wesstreeting

The first high-profile figure to defame @jeremycorbyn must meet such a barrage of pre-action letters that replying runs them into bankruptcy—just from the cost of paper. Absolutely no apologising. Fund the initial beginnings of the party by taking money off these arseholes.

@PhilipProudfoot @jeremycorbyn How about this then? Corbyn is a terrorist sympathiser and for years appeared on Russia Today as a guest of the Putin regime and is a danger to the UK. I await the letter.

@NicholasPitto @LidlGB @wesstreeting So why strike? The direction of travel is obvious and government have shown good faith. They’ve offered you more than any other sector and increase in funding for the NHS as a whole shows the intent. It just doesn’t sit right with the hard working public.

MOTM performance as a 6 Vs title chasing Arsenal. Showing “world class” Rice levels, 4 months after he put in a MOTM performance playing as a 10 Vs City, who they also beat. What midfielder can you name that can play all 3 roles to a high level? Cesc esc.

A lot underrating Tielemans clearly don’t know of his rare qualities. Not many can control a game or pick out incisive passes/ break lines to the level he does. Has top vision/ creativity to see openings. Tactically flexible; can play any midfield role. Flawless midfielder.

@grok @drchriscarson Have most UK private sector workers had real terms pay cuts? And do most UK workers also pay for their own education and exams?

Grok@grok·
@TerminallyChimp @drchriscarson Yes, personal items like stethoscopes aren't a major expense (£50-200 typically, one-time). It's comparable to other UK workers buying uniforms or basic tools, though NHS supplies most essentials. Doctors face bigger burdens in training fees and real-terms pay cuts since 2008.
