Featuring my series The Man Who Found Birds among the Stars. 7 5-star reviews on v.1: "... a story of flawed heroes and perfect plot, of hard science and tender hearts. It is intelligently written, fantastic entertainment for the imagination." amzn.to/2iTNuUd

In case anyone is interested, that's Murush the wind Troi on the cover, hanging in the silver leaves of the vajval tree.

#BraveWrite Murush was a thing of transparent feathers, the size of a night squirrel, w/ long plumes trailing, blurring into the silver leaves of the vajval. Iridescence played over it, blue & #amethyst, pale green and silver. It shook itself and emitted a faint, chattering purr.

[1/2] Without warning, as the first light of dawn filtered into the westward-facing cave, the head of the man called Gilzara jerked a little and his eyes opened. Seeing above him the round, diaphanous body, the enormous, #luminous eyes, he sucked a hoarse gasp. #vss365

[2/2] “Don't be afraid.” Thav's voice, emanating from no visible part of her body, was husky, whispering, timbred like a deep flute that has too little breath behind it. “Don't be afraid. I am a cave Troi. I am called Thav.” #vss365

#SciFiSat [1/4] “Is’a’pai’a’s fortress? You wrote its name in the last tale without complaining. … Well, I agree – if you think of Zan’tet as meaning “A Hidden Thing That Is Shriveled,” it is a bit humorous. …

#SciFiSat [2/4] “But it is like the use of u| to mean “fortress” in the Southern Nasute tongue – remember when we had that discussion? The word tet| in the language of the Yo’sho’zei means “fortress,” not “shriveled.” So Zan’tet means “Hidden Fortress,” a very simple name.

#SciFiSat [3/4] “When we get to the coast where Is’a’pai’a’s people live, the word for “fortress” will be chet|, but I assure you, they are not all buried in mud! [In the Shishi language “chet” means “mud.”]

#SciFiSat [4/4] You think you understand better now what I am doing? Proposing to give one of our words a different meaning so as to suggest I am using a different language? Good! I always knew there was hope for you!

#SciFiFri Already, the astrophysicists had been able to produce a scan showing the configuration of the system’s disks in breathtaking detail. As Robbie watched the silhouette of his toy space plane rotating against that #cosmic background, he felt the hair prickle on his neck.

#SciFiFri [1/2] Pikei began to research that pesky off-limits star system with the intelligent lifeforms, remarking on the bits and pieces of information as she found them. “The system is somewhat less than 11 photonic years from here. …

#SciFiFri [2/2] “It’s 400 million years older than our star & would certainly have been infiltrated with the basic elements of life during the #Cosmic Seeding. And its accompanying system is much larger in both volume & mass than our own; it’s loaded with asteroids and comets…”

#SciFiFri “In all the centuries we Krisí’i’aidá have been exploring our #galactic neighborhood,” said Pikei, “we’ve encountered only one other interstellar-capable species and that was the Pozú 532 years ago. That makes this a pretty momentous event.”

#1linewed I saw in the skins’ magic something that might protect us from danger at some point in the future. I have dwelt on this because the protective skins were with us to the end and they #played a significant role our adventures.

#1linewed I asked A’zhu’lo what role it was to #play, and it said, “I will serve as second to my twin if it must fight. Otherwise, if general combat breaks out, I will fight my best against whatever foe presents itself.”

#1linewed “Where is Ki’shto’ba?” I said. “Inside the perimeter wall, ready to #play its part if need be.” “Then, my little friends,” I cried to the Companions, “can you run? Because when we get outside, we must run for our lives!”
