This is great. In getting to know your students, I always ask who you work well and opposite. It helps in getting to know them as sometimes that friend is the one who distracts them from their learning and they need your help to stay focused.

5 ways to build agency on the first day of school: 1. Build a Learning Strengths Wall. What do you bring to our community of learners? 2. Co-design some essential agreements & collaborative norms. What do you need to learn best? 3. Plan with curiosity in mind. What do you wonder about? 4. Talk less. Ask & listen more. The more scholars talk, the more the classroom becomes theirs. 5. Get to know your scholars. Agency thrives when strong trust & relationship are abundant.
