CALGARY, ALBERTA - On May 6, 2026, four men allegedly forced their way into a home in Edmonton, assaulted a man at gunpoint, and kidnapped him. The victim was forced into a vehicle and driven to Calgary, where more suspects and vehicles were staged at a home in the northeast community of Cityscape. The suspects attempted to use the victim to lure his friend, the intended extortion target, out of the home. When the victim refused, he was assaulted again. The friend and his wife attempted to leave but were followed and threatened with a firearm before retreating inside and calling police. The victim was eventually driven back to Edmonton and released near his home, after which he reported the kidnapping to police. Five people have been charged in connection with the incident.
