The TY Danjuma Foundation, in partnership with the Teacher Aid Initiative, has successfully commenced the first day of a specialized teachers’ training program in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The training opened with an impressive turnout of 158 educators and key stakeholders, all focused on a shared commitment to improving the quality of instruction and strengthening STEM education across the state. The program began with an opening address by Adeola Ojeleye, Founder of the Teacher Aid Initiative, who welcomed participants and emphasized the necessity of equipping teachers with innovative, learner-centered methods and the ability to use improvised materials in the classroom. This was followed by a goodwill message from the Permanent Secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Universal Basic Education Board, who commended the initiative and reaffirmed the Board’s support for teacher development. Representatives from the TY Danjuma Foundation also expressed their continued dedication to partnerships that enhance teacher capacity and promote sustainable learning outcomes. A major highlight of the day was an expert panel session featuring representatives from the University of Uyo, the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, the Ministry of Education, and the TY Danjuma Foundation. The panel discussed critical issues including teaching standards, teacher professionalism, and inclusive education. The rest of the day was dedicated to interactive, hands-on sessions where teachers worked on practical projects using locally available resources to create teaching aids for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The first day concluded with a reflective wrap-up session, leaving participants with practical skills to immediately improve their classroom delivery. #tydf #tydfimpact

There is no reason under the sun that an individual, no matter how high placed and no matter the airline or the problem, should block a departure gate for other passengers. There are better ways to sort out your grievances. He is not the only one to have missed a flight before because the airplane was still on the tarmac but the doors have been shut. Over the years, it has happened to me on three different occasions, once at 5:30 am in Paris and I had to stay until the next day for another flight to Lagos. Once that door is closed, it is closed. Those are the regulations. In my own case it was the airline, Air France, that arrived late from New York and told all of us transiting to Lagos that we could not board the new plane, their own flight, because the doors had been closed. No matter how much I pleaded, I was told I had to wait for the next flight, which at the time, was not until the next morning. I was mad as hell, but at the end, all I could do was accept their free hotel room and meals. If I tried anything else, I would have been arrested. A lawmaker should set an example for ordinary citizens.

The initiative to improve the general wellbeing and nutritional status of the vulnerable groups provided food items to 300 households. In addition, children were screened for malnutrition and provided with vitamin supplements. #TYDFImpact

As part of @TYDFoundation's effort to provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable groups, the Foundation collaborated with @SWNInitiative to train 450 pregnant and lactating women in Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergency Practice at Wassa IDP camp settlement in Abuja.
