The fastest way to get a code review approved is to include one obvious small mistake that reviewers can find and feel good about catching.

Claude Code leaked their source map, effectively giving you a look into the codebase. I immediately went for the one thing that mattered: spinner verbs There are 187

I think I finally understand what an agent is. It's a prompt (or several), skills, and tools. Did I get this right?

10 Concurrency Concepts you must learn for backend: 0. Thread Safety (race conditions) 1. Locks (Mutex, R/W locks) 2. Optimistic vs pessimistic locking 3. Lock-free/CAS (compare-and-swap) 4. Deadlocks (detection/prevention) 5. Thread pools 6. Futures & async programming 7. Backpressure (producer/consumer) 8. Context switching overhead 9. Event loops vs threads

Clean code is not about naming things perfectly. It’s about: - making intent obvious - reducing cognitive load - helping the next developer (often future you) Readable code scales better than clever code.

With agentic slop, we are trading software reliability for shipping velocity and calling it progress. It isn't. Systems are more fragile than ever, and engineers building them no longer trust their code to hold up in real-world edge cases. I am pro-AI, but this will backfire - big time.

This is the talk I gave in San Francisco at PyAI on how you can figure out what present and future models are good at when it comes to writing your own agents.

"How do agentic coding tools work? I have no idea. And you probably also don't." That was @mitsuhiko opening his talk at PyAI. What follows is one of the most useful 20 minutes on working with agents we've ever seen. youtu.be/8RHYyRUxVrA

I wrote a post on how we tracked down slow imports in our Django app, fixed them by making imports lazy, and added a lint check to prevent regressions. Now I’m waiting for Python 3.15 to make all of this easier! 🚀 blog.pecar.me/speeding-up-dj…
