GIANT SOLAR PROMINENCE: For the 3rd day in a row, a fiery prominence is dancing along the sun's northeastern limb. The shapeshifting structure has grown taller each day. Today, says photographer Maximilian Teodorescu, "it looks like a ghost rider on a horse."

A BREAK IN THE STORMS 🌌⚡

The next two days should be relatively quiet… until another CME swings by on March 26th.
High-latitude sky watchers might still catch more auroras on Thursday night.
Spring Equinox Aurora Taken by Ayumi Bakken on March 20, 2026 @ Cantwell, Alaska
"It was an absolutely stunning spring equinox aurora. Just before 10 pm, as I was driving near Denali National Park, I noticed a faint band stretching across the sky and took a quick shot… and then, wow. The entire sky exploded into shades of pink and purple. Without a doubt, it was one of the most unforgettable nights of the past ten years."
The pink and purple curtains lighting up the Alaskan sky are pure magic.
