The New Algorithm 🧵 X uses a points system to determine how they seed your content in the algorithm. When you make a post; AI predicts how well that post is going to do, and then shows it to an initial sample of your following based off that prediction. If the post does well in that initial sample, the algorithm will continue to push your content. You have about 24 hours before your post has no traction left. The first hour is critical, that will determine if your content continues to be shown in the algorithm. The best way to get the XAI to give you a good prediction (thereby showing your content to more people in the algorithm) is through replies. The entire algorithm is based on keeping people on the platform. More people in the app, more clicks, more likes, better for their app. With that in mind, they want to see meaningful discussion in replies. If you have good long form content, this is what the algorithm would favor the most, as long as it has a hook to keep people engaged. We all know long form content is the hardest to make. Every account is assigned a score that determines how good of a prediction XAI will give their content. The way to improve your score is to post at consistent times, be active in replies, and have an old account that demonstrates consistent activity. Follower count does matter but not as much as it used to. Having a blue check also helps but again, not as much as it used to. It’s better to quote tweet than to just repost. Any repost you do competes in the algorithm against your own original posts, but you don’t get “credit” from XAI for that repost doing well. So you’re shooting yourself in the foot. Quote tweets count as a post, so you’re pushing the OP further, and not hindering your own account. I know the algorithm has been causing a lot of heartache lately, so I used this accounts down time to try to figure it out as much as I could. TLDR: post at consistent high traffic times, be active in the replies, have a network that can interact with your content quickly after you drop it.
