@tlmarlington Er, Catholics don't offer Masses on Good Friday. At least, not round here.

The ALMS Good Friday TLM shuttle is back! Unfortunately there are NO Good Friday Traditional Latin Mass options for Good Friday (thanks to the horrible Traditionis Custodes). So we are running a free bus to St. Aphonsus Liguori in Baltimore (and back again)

I don't hate everything Trump does. But yesterday's Truth Social post celebrating the death of Robert Mueller was about as classless and un-Christian as it gets.

Here in Hagia Sophia, on May 29th 1453, after 900 years of being a Christian cathedral, in the final hours of the Fall of Constantinople, a large number of Christian men, women, children, nuns, monks, priests, and others sought refuge from the Muslim invaders. The Ottomans surged inside and massacred them. On its holy altars they enacted “perversions with our women, virgins and children” including “the Grand Duke’s daughter who was quite beautiful” and forced to “lie on the great altar of Hagia Sophia with a crucifix under her head and then raped” Those who were not murdered were enslaved. Hagia Sophia resembled a “public brothel” before it was turned into a “stable for their horses”, with toppled altars used as troughs. The Hagia Sophia’s main Crucifix was then paraded “in mocking procession” with “spitting and blasphemies and curses”. “Behold the god of the Christians!” They jeered

It’s definitely not Catholic, in fact Jones has been roundly condemned by several bishops and his beliefs are rejected by the Catholic Church. Mainstreaming Jones as some sort of authority or acceptable “alternative” to Barron is nothing short of a demonic attack on the church itself. And unlike Prejean, he isn’t trying to mask his hatred of Jews; he’s quite open about it. If this is who Prejean is getting her information about the church from, then her whole crusade makes complete sense — in that she’s a useful idiot, a pawn in a dangerous strategy. But that’s the MO here: they want to destroy the authority of the church in the public square, both by fanning the flames of radical anti-Semitic elements who would cause deep divisions within the church and by disgusting otherwise well-meaning people who might have converted, stunting or reversing the Church’s remarkable recent growth. It’s no secret we’re in a conversion uptick, and there’s no one angrier about that than the Devil. I’m not joking when I say Prejean, who has no discernible intelligence and seems utterly incapable of any original thought, is being used as a tool to keep these dark ideas in the zeitgeist. Catholics should be very concerned.
Bonchie@bonchieredstate

Update: Carrie Prejean is now trashing a highly-respected Catholic Bishop by praising a literal Holocaust denier. There’s nothing Catholic about this. In fact, the disorder and disrespect is distinctly not Catholic, and the crash-out only gets worse from here.

Here’s the question nobody in Washington is asking about the Diego Garcia strike: how did Iran know exactly where to aim? They don’t have satellite coverage of the Indian Ocean. Someone gave them the targeting data. Who? And what does that make this war?

I wore a COVID mask to Mass and I don't feel bad about it. Coughing and sneezing a ton and I didn't want other parishioners getting sick because of me.

THIS Is why we can’t reopen the Strait of Hormuz. THIS THIS THIS We just don’t have enough Destroyers and US Merchant Marine supertankers…. And the SHIPs for America Act doesn’t have enough fraud inside it to be passed by Congress. Dems spent $65B connecting ZERO rural homes to internet. That’s 21 US Navy destroyers!! More than enough to run convoys in the strait. Navy Veteran @PeteButtigieg was given $2 TRILLION to fix infrastructure. That’s 666 destroyers or 133 nuclear aircraft carriers! 5 years later, longer than it took us to win WW2, our infrastructure is in worse shape. FORGET EVERYTHING THE MEDIA IS TELLING YOU 👇👇👇 IS WHY WE CANNOT SECURE THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ

On the Fifth Sunday of Lent, an extraordinary moment unfolds inside St. Peter’s Basilica: the unveiling of Veronica’s Veil. According to tradition, this relic is the cloth used by a woman—known as Veronica—to wipe the face of Christ as He carried the Cross to Calvary. The name “Veronica” comes from vera icona, meaning “true image,” reflecting the belief that Christ’s face was miraculously imprinted on the veil. Preserved in St. Peter’s Basilica alongside relics of the True Cross and the lance of St. Longinus, the veil has been venerated for centuries. Its presence is documented by the Middle Ages, and in 1207 Pope Innocent III promoted its public display. By the Jubilee of 1300—proclaimed by Pope Boniface VIII—the icon was among the great marvels of Rome that drew pilgrims from across the world. On this day, the canons of the Basilica gather at the High Altar over the tomb of St. Peter. After the opening rites, they process through the basilica singing the Litany of the Saints, joined by the faithful. The procession pauses as all turn toward the chapel above the statue of St. Veronica. As the hymn Vexilla Regis is sung, the veil is brought forth. Bells ring as it is shown to the faithful in silence and reverence. At a time when sacred images are veiled during Passiontide, the Church in Rome offers one final gaze upon the face of Christ—before entering more deeply into His Passion. Source: EWTN bit.ly/47QOxLV

In Austin, a visually impaired man had to physically restrain a violent repeat offender on a city bus, got slashed repeatedly, and now must relearn how to walk -- because the prosecutors paid to keep a violent vagrant off the street didn't do their job. Aidan Hearn has ridden CapMetro for over a decade. He looked up, saw someone being attacked, and didn't think twice. He grabbed the vagrant, struggled with him for a minute or two, kicked him into the seat -- and that's when Rogerio Martinez slashed him. Three deep cuts on his hand and two on his calf. A stranger held a tourniquet on Hearn's leg with his belt. Hearn says, with some hindsight, it probably saved it. Hearn had surgery to repair a destroyed artery. He's now facing months of relearning how to walk. Meanwhile, the demented vagrant who put him there had convictions for aggravated robbery, strangling a family member, and beating a security guard in the forehead with her flashlight -- all before he ever got on that bus.

BREAKING — new details about Friday's Austin bus stabbing. Two passengers were sitting in the back of the #3 bus on South Lamar, having a Bible discussion. Rogerio Martinez, sitting across from them, apparently found this annoying. "I'm tired of hearing your voice,” Martinez said. Then he stood up with a kitchen knife. One was mid-conversation, turned away, when the first blade went into his back. He spun around and threw up his bare hands -- Martinez kept stabbing. Four times total. A stranger named jumped in, pushed Martinez off, and wrestled him into a bus seat. Martinez stabbed him in the leg anyway. Bleeding, the man held him pinned to the seat until police arrived. Officers found Martinez still on the bus, blood on his hands and shirt, surrounded by people he'd just put on the ground. He refused to talk. One victim was transported to Dell Seton in critical condition. The other to South Austin Hospital. Surveillance footage captured all of it. Martinez -- who was named as the suspect yesterday on this account before local news reported it today -- has spent decades cycling through Texas courtrooms: robbing people, strangling a family member, and most recently beating an HEB security guard in the forehead with her own flashlight. Four aggravated robbery charges, a family strangulation, a felony assault knocked to a misdemeanor -- and every time, a system that found a reason to put him back on the street. Two people are in the hospital now because prosecutors apparently never attempted to take him to court and face punishment for his crimes.
