Over a week ago, news broke that celebrity pastor Robert Morris raped a 12 year old repeatedly and engaged in a decades-long coverup.
Not an hour has gone by since that I've not seen a comment or received a call or text from hurting families in our community wondering when Gateway Church will speak to THEM—the members who faithfully serve, give their time, their resources and hearts to God and his Kingdom through Gateway.
I also hear concern from others that talking about the issue just 'fuels the liberal media' to attack Christians. The only way to stop their attacks is for the people of God to make it clear that we will not tolerate abuse in our ranks, and when it happens we will shine a light wolves who harm the flock and put them out (Matthew 18).
What Gateway has done in the last week:
1. Repeated Morris's lie that he was involved in a consensual sexual relationship with a 'young lady' in his past in a leaked memo to staff
2. Accepted his resignation
3. Hired a law firm specializing in crisis management and mitigating revenue loss
4. Spent hours scrubbing photos and mentions of Morris from their network of websites and social media
What Gateway has NOT done:
1. Send an email to church members
2. Offered counseling to members and hurting families who trusted the church
3. Explain why the church took no action when the victim contacted Morris and church elders in 2005 and 2007
4. Address claims regarding the Church's role in offering a $25,000 settlement to the victim in 2005 under the condition she sign an NDA.
5. Disclose which elders and staff were aware of the above
Gateway Church says it's 'All about people.' It's time they prove it.
1 Peter 5:1-4 — So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. ”

The Supreme Court is siding with the Biden administration against Texas by allowing the federal government to take down razor wire on the border.
Texas is trying to enforce our laws and uphold our sovereignty while the federal government is disregarding the law and ignoring its responsibility to protect our borders.
