@mccantsvt @I_Coach_Speed Very true. Also a lot of kids in the portal are getting cut from their previous programs as well.

@I_Coach_Speed And this is where I was going with my question. A big part of the transfer portal puzzle refuses to be acknowledged which is that kids go to their first stop, develop and then leave. Which means some coach had to develop them before they got in the portal.

You pose a great question. Many HS athletes are under developed or not properly developed. Most of them become ready made at the first college stop (usually not their initial preferred destination). The ones in the portal who aren’t ready made, usually have a hard time exiting the portal.

I have a question for the high school/club track coaches. There’s a lot of talk about how schools want ready made athletes from the portal. How did those portal athletes become “ready made?” Did the portal itself turn them into ready made athletes? Asking for research purposes
