Puka Nacua actually looked well and healthy in that interview. Good to see him out with Verse too. Side note: people on Twitter really dont know how long rehab stints are

@ThaRealCards @BounceRoccSkate naw theyre huge and fair if they were big south. i mean hiero is global too, like they were big in europe the same time dre was big in the bay. but different waves, mostly different fanbases. a hiero fan is more likely to fw blackalicious or j5 than bay area underground imo

The saddest thing about Drake’s version of 2 hard 4 the radio is a bunch of people are going to hear it and never find out it’s actually Mac Dre’s song

@Mali5timeS @BounceRoccSkate Ehh. Heiro had the east bay and whole south bay on lock too, specifically all the way down to Santa Cruz and Monterey. I agree completely different sounds, but I cannot agree they were mostly Oakland.

@ThaRealCards @BounceRoccSkate i would absolutely say hiero is way bigger in oakland, but everyone knew both, and almsot everywhere outside of oakland, mac dre was bigger. theyre different categories of hip hop though tbf. like they didnt really share fans the way mac dre did w the jack or nickatina

@ThaRealCards @BounceRoccSkate yeah but we disagree there. he was THE bay area artist prior to his death, and had been for a while. it was all love, everyone who was into him was also into nickatina, mob figaz, luniz, even more obscure stuff like woodie, it was a wave but mac dre was THE guy for years

@Mali5timeS @BounceRoccSkate I did hear him. But are we acting as if Heiro wasnt also peaking in that timeline as well? Now we questioning Heiros influence?

@ThaRealCards @BounceRoccSkate x.com/mali5times/sta… the way you presented the timelines makes it seem like you didnt hear him much in the 90s and 00s and heard hiero more, if youre saying you did hear him a lot i don’t even know what we’re talking about lmao
Mali Wowie@Mali5timeS

@ThaRealCards @BounceRoccSkate i did say he was underground but we’re talking about hiw big he was out here, you’re comparing him against san quinn and nickatina like they arent other underground artists. i know he got more mainstream after death but we’re talking about his regional popularity prior to that

@Mali5timeS @BounceRoccSkate Correct! Thats my whole point. He was not king of bay area like he was treated after his death. He was on par with everyone else. Meaning...more casual listeners gave a fuck once he died. (Nothing wrong with casual fans BTW. I love he got his flowers)

@Mali5timeS @BounceRoccSkate Let's punp the brakes a bit. Im not saying he wasnt played anywhere else, haha. Im speaking on pre and post death popularity. Hell...once mystic journeynen helped form the living legends, they were touring the country as well in the 00s

@BounceRoccSkate @ThaRealCards he literally got killed in kansas city because he did shows all through the midwest, like the retconning was silly, dre was riding a eave for years before he died

@Mali5timeS @BounceRoccSkate In the post you first replied to... In general, yes, people cared and listened way more about him after he died? Are you doubting that? I personally listened and followed him quite a bit in the late 90s into 00s.

@ThaRealCards @BounceRoccSkate he absolutely was out here. grew up in north sac, college in sf, lived in oakland a long time. you might not have been tapped in but if you were into san quinn and rbl and not mac dre that’s wild. like i said, for most of us, norcal underground hip hop was one wave

@Mali5timeS @BounceRoccSkate Dude...trust me I aint shitting on him at all. Hes a legend. But im not gonna sit here and act like he was massive during his actual life. He wasnt. You state yourself, he was underground. The posthumously rise was incredible

@ThaRealCards @BounceRoccSkate he died in 04 and was like THE biggest underground hip hop artist in norcal for an easy five years, ONE of the biggest for a cool decade. He has like four legendary eras, the thizz /hyphy movement was just the last one. ybb, romper room gang, early 00s stuff were huge too
