@SCOTUSPlaces I don’t get on this platform often, but when I do you’re a must-read!

@SCOTUSPlaces “This is America Jack” — wanted to make sure you caught that line bc they wanted you to hear it

@SCOTUSPlaces Never say never on the Oxford with a suit. Lest you rue the day

@SCOTUSPlaces @dieworkwear I can’t even say who is doing the worst. I want to root for pocket squares, but they have to match the tie at least

@SCOTUSPlaces @UCRiverside It might be the Upyours Empire, check your maps

@SCOTUSPlaces I got frustrated with Comcast(?) trying to cancel Max(?) so I dropped a note to my state regulatory board, and a nice person called me the next day. All of that was deadweight loss, a sonnet unwritten. #Click2Cancel

1. For weeks, major media orgs — including @washingtonpost, @politico, and @nytimes — have possessed internal Trump campaign docs
But all 3 outlets have declined to publish or excerpt them
It's a radically different decision than the same pubs made when Clinton's campaign was hacked in 2016

@NickCRadio So far it’s dead air with great hair. Maybe he doesn’t know his mic is live even when the crowd gets loud

@jorabek I got a notice of violation from I-66 with your name (and maybe plate #?) but my mail address. Let me know if you want to find a way to convey that image to you. From one JK to another.

@rosslanser @CJHandmer @RodneyMusicMuse The only historical analog to First Contact was 1492. And that devastated the contacted society. So that whole sci-fi genre is freighted with that human experience

Here's a take on the "dark forest", why we don't hear alien radio.
Nearby aliens pick up our earliest radio signals about now. They have telescopes and quickly work out where we are, distance, and some basics of our planet, such as atmospheric spectroscopy.
Even if they have near light speed rockets, they can estimate our metabolic rate from our planet's surface temp and realize by the time they get here, in say another century or a millennium or whatever, we will have passed beyond the technology event horizon and will have warp drive, ASI, etc, and will be unconquerable.
Best for them to stay quiet until we figure things out.
Has this take been treated in fiction?

@jmwooldridge Twitter is a pretty app, but there are better choices for navigation

@SCOTUSPlaces Next you should train your own AI model, but use only the text of this tweet (*10^9) as the training corpus. Entirely necessary for the sake of your Campbellian monomyth.

@Craig_A_Spencer @CherylRofer @TheAtlantic One doubling of life expectancy is an anecdote. Two would be a coincidence, three would be a trend. 🙂
English

Did you know our life expectancy doubled in the last century?
And the field of public health is primarily to thank.
For @TheAtlantic I wrote about the history of public health, what impact it has today, and why we need to support it more than ever 👇
