@yurisexslave I dunno what's concerning, the purple spots on immediate family or that Freiza likes headpats, apparently.

@kuso_otoko I wish I could level up that fast. It's just been like a yearly update for me for the past decade.

@kamalasfutacock Making art is a skill that can be wielded for good or pure evil. That artist decided to commit war crimes.

@scottwolf14 I think critical thinking and common sense flew out the window because it's noticeable now these days. And it feels like something shifted in people in general. Not just online but in real life.

@ThatUnusMF It's a huge process that makes the asking price high for a reason. I hate how people have no conception of what it takes to make anything look remotely pleasing to the eye.

The folks who were complaining about the prices only see the finished product and not the process. If you ask them to do an animation from storyboard to post-production, they would be asking for more than 250. In the industry, each part is usually assigned to certain artists to fill that role (or more), but solo artists like myself do the entire process. Like this scene from my thesis film. While I assigned the 1st rough pass and the color+background to different people, I handled the other passes.

@ThatUnusMF Animation is one of the most expensive processes in the world. The amount of time it takes even a simple looping animation or a single segment can take weeks or months depending on how complicated it gets. The price is high for the assurance of physically being able to finish it.

Hey. Animator here with a MFA in Animation. Yes, we would. It may be a character without a background, but you are only seeing the finished product. To make sure the animation looks good. We do multiple passes. In the industry, there are folks who are assigned roles within the animation pipeline to handle each part of the process. It's standard since there are deadlines. While folks within the industry are usually assigned a role (or more) by studios, you have folks like myself who do the entire process from pre-production to post-production, which takes longer than an actual studio. For example, this scene from my thesis film. I had assigned people to handle the first rough pass, background, and color while I did the rough pass v2, tiedown, and cleanup. Another example is the 2nd video, where I attempted to mimic the Klaus style back in late 2019.

@ThatUnusMF @tonikopantoja fr. people are always thinking art is so easy and so quick to do and if you'd tell them to do it themselves then, they'd not have a clue what to do ☠️

@kenshirotism I miss this lady a lot. But also a real shame the author never got to finish his story. But at least it's good to know the artist is still doing cool stuff.

I'm speaking in general, I should have been more clearer on that. 24 frames per second. So 24 x 20 is 480. While you can hold or shorten a frames (2s for quick movement or 3s-4s for slower movement), additional frames would be edited for secondary animations, slow ins, slow outs etc.) Then you have folks like Don Bluth who animates on ones. During the rough drafts, folks usually animate different parts on different layers. You got the tiedown frames to tie it all together. Then you have the layer for the vector lines, color, lighting, shading, (additional effects) (Some programs like Toon Harmony make it easier since you can fill in the paint on the same layer of the vector lines, but it's expensive) If you plan to have SFX in your animatons that's an additional layer. If you have background movement, certain effects within the background, additional characters etc, those are additional layers. For the animation from the orginal post (and this is just me guessing off of OP's whole process) would be less frames but would still include the rough drafts, a tiedown layer, a clean lineart layer, color, lighting, and shading. We are only seeing the finished product. Now if OP did this all on a single layer, then they are a psychopath.
