1949 Massacre On the 18th November 1949, 21 miners and a bystander were shot dead at Iva valley coal mine, Enugu, Nigeria. It all began when the miners decided to fight for back-pay owed to them and to protest harsh working conditions.

Today is another Monday, and most people are still going to sit at home in most parts of Enugu until later in the day despite the ban on sit-at-home and the subsequent media outings. Tomorrow is here.
