@ECloskyWTSP If he can play centerfield, yes. But i don’t like a .600 OPS / 0 HR guy playing a corner OF spot. His career value has to be playing a great CF and getting on base

The reason why the Rays can stick with Chandler through his slump is because he has quickly developed into an elite defensive OF.

@TBRaysCentral IMO this is a tryout. Chandler has to be a CF and a good one at that, if he wants to continue to be a starter in this league. I can’t waste a corner spot on a guy with zero power. Just can’t do it. He only makes sense as a CF

@ltw0303 @RaysBaseball Oh damn i completely misunderstood. Yeah i hear you, but still just 26 and he is breaking out this year. His ERA is far above his FIP. I really don’t think i trust Angels development so i’d give him a pass lol. Starter to bullpen back to starter

@The162er @RaysBaseball I just meant stuff to stats ? Career 4.65 ERA despite less than hit per inning , HR rate decent and K/9 over 10 . He should be getting better results BUT he’s a lefty we know how that goes . They don’t break out until 29-30 🤣

@ltw0303 @RaysBaseball Walls is fine, but he could just become a utility guy like he probably should be. If they pick Emerson, you get a SS with control through 2027/28 and if you don’t extend, you already have your next SS

The Matt Olson vs. Nick Kurtz debate is interesting. Kurtz career OPS+ is 164, Olson’s best season was a 164 OPS+.
So basically Kurtz’ baseline has been Olson’s peak to this point.
Crazy given that Kurtz debuted literally a year after college.

Troy Melton just completed 8 innings of 2-run ball, after going 7 IP last start, and 5.2 IP in his 2026 debut. Tremendous efficiency.
