Kebab shop Zaytoon is closing its Camden Street branch, citing 'rising costs' as the reason. The branch opened in 2005 and has been a mainstay of city centre nightlife in the decades since. thejournal.ie/zaytoon-camden…

Every village deserves its pub — a place where neighbours meet, friendships grow, and traditions live on. But without action on excise duty, many of these hubs face closure. Losing them means losing part of Ireland’s social fabric. Without decisive action in the forthcoming Budget, countless local pubs will close their doors — leaving lasting damage to Ireland’s social and economic landscape. We urge the Government to reduce excise duty and give these essential community hubs a chance to survive.

@The4Prov It's just a question I've always asked, the Vat bill can be massive especially calculated at 23% and like I said,we have all the same bills as a food led business. It's like an elephant in the room that no one seems to recognise.

Hospitality is struggling across the board,be it hotels, restaurants and pubs. There has been a massive lobby for years now to reduce the Vat from 13.5% to 9% in food led businesses. Small gripe maybe but what about the drinks only ones, with all the same overheads paying 23%?

TG4 is "reeling" after the success of their Electric Picnic broadcast, with a senior editor at the broadcaster describing it as a "milestone for Irish music and the Irish language". It was the only station televising the country's largest music festival. jrnl.ie/6804689t
