Joe Flaherty was indeed one of a kind; he was there from 1974 when we first opened Second City at the Old Firehall in Toronto. Both directing and performing, Joe was nothing short of a godsend to me. I was a neophyte I learnt so much from him, his enthusiasm for the work was infectious. It was clear that it was not just a passion but his life calling. Then, when we embarked on launching SCTV in 1976, Joe became the undeniable anchor of the show. His dedication to the show was unparalleled, he was a wonderful collaborator, and his insights were invaluable, often elevating the material to heights not imagined. Beyond his talents, what stood out was Joe's love of the show; he was the heart. His legacy is not just the work he created but the love he had for his children Gabe and Gudrun, they both brought so much joy into his life. He will be long remembered. Andrew Alexander

@Realeugenelevy Adding to the thousands of supportive voices that have stated the obvious; Marty Short is the funniest, smartest, and most lovable comedic actor of his generation. I had a front seat to his extraordinary talents as a Producer at Second City and SCTV. He is a very special human

Just got wind of that ridiculously laughable op-ed about Marty Short. After 50 years in the world of comedy there is one thing I know for certain - no one is faster, smarter, or funnier than Marty Short. He is the definition of funny!

Tomorrow will be John Candy Day in Toronto. It’s our way of remembering a beloved actor and comedian with roots in Toronto. Proud to help honour the legacy of John Candy on what would have been his 70th birthday.

@TheAAlexander If anyone would know the answer to this, you would. SCTV's second season has the opening where TVs are tossed out a high-rise apartment building. Some say it was Edmonton, but that doesn't make sense in the timeline. I say it was definitely Toronto/area. ...?

The Second City is heartbroken to share that our longtime stage manager–and invariably the funniest person in the room–Craig Taylor passed away Friday evening after several months of declining health. secondcity.com/network/rememb…
