Not really sure how to brand this feed going forward. Haven’t made any YouTube content in 5 years, not planning on more Pokémon theories anytime soon. Hobbies I guess? Adam the Fantasy Author: @AdamLemma My Podcasts: @KenanKelPodcast @MonsterRightPod @ClaymoreAndFlan

Lately the indie animation I've been seeing seems to be advertised as adult/all ages but in reality is aimed towards children in its dialogue and storytelling without being intentional ❤️‍🩹

@subajellydraws Is she really Asian coded?? I thought the way the fire people were treated (struggling to find a place in the world along with constantly being seen as dangerous or out of place) along for only seeing value in them for their art was an allegory for the Indigenous people 😭

“So what do you do for a living, Fred?” “Well I used to touch packages.” “I don’t understand…” “The packages would come in, and a silo of them would be fed onto a conveyer belt. As they went by, I touched each one.” “I’m not following here.” “Each bag needed to be touched and I touched each one.” “Okay but why?” “Well the labels need to be face down and I touched them and made them all face down. It was a great gig until my job was eliminated.” “Oh no, did they put another camera looking down from above so that no one needed to touch the package?” “No they spent millions of dollars, or 20 years of my salary to train a robot over months to touch the packages as good as me.” “Why not just add another camera?” “Because that’s not enough to trick investors into buying really inconvenient and expensive automation tools.”

@MrSnappyeagle Oh to make an incredible project, writing and animation both need to be firing on all cylinders. Writer-led indie ani projects can exist, looking at asdfmovie, but the animators bring more to the table. I’ve seen far more writers unable to find animators than the reverse.

@TheAlgamist An animator is capable in their field. Sometime they might know a thing or two but to typically not. And it brings down a decent idea or just a pretty looking cartoon all the way down. Both skills are hard to learn. A project is not good cause it’s stylish. A project need synergy

Most artist aren’t writers. Not every cartoon has to be a pilot. If you wanna just have your characters interacting but don’t know how to write or tell a story, that’s fine, just get people to help or learn. Or just animate a music video if you don’t wanna learn.

Everyone has been 'vibe coding' for like 2 years with this 'insane' tool and there are still 0 (zero) notable game changing products that compare to what dedicated humans created in their basements prior to AI. Anyone w/ expertise in any subject immediately realises how overrated it is for giving you anything beyond the most basic information in it. If you can legitimately write, any writing produced by an LLM is a disgusting insult to all of your senses. Good for the boring and tediously repetitive tasks + organising information, but still so unreliable and far away from what Silicon Valley keep trying to shill us.

This reader comment on a NY Times column where Ross Douthat ponders that maybe God is speaking to us through A.I. is an absolute fastball on the corner with movement, and deserves a column. "Lightening was once mysterious too; mystery did not make Zeus correct" is perfect.

Every time I tell someone I’m a screenwriter they go “I have an idea for a movie!” Yeah me too bozo, about a million of ‘em. There’s a reason you can’t copyright ideas, only their EXPRESSION. Prompting is not writing. Writing is writing. Writing is hard, and that’s why it matters
Talassarian Tempest@talassarian

@Dgkalx1267 @OliverJia1014 Nobody has “good ideas but can’t write” because actual writing is where all the quality comes from. Non-writers overvalue ideas to the extreme, like you’re doing now. Ideas are the cheapest and most easy to acquire part of writing. We do NOT need AI slop of everyone’s ideas

Yes, this is slop—in part because the person making seems tasteless, dull, and infatuated with the tech itself rather than narrative art—but video gen is clearly close to *commercial viability* in the right hands. Especially for kids’ content, since they’re undiscerning. This is why I’ve been agitating for a leftist AI skeptical response bigger than “it’s slop, it sucks, it’s fake, it’s bad.” Because it has been getting vastly more capable, and is rapidly approaching the point at which *enough* people will be willing to pay for it—even if YOU don’t, even if LOTS OF US don’t—that it will entrench. Right now, we call it slop and get a lot of positive feedback and feel superior and good and like we are leading the majority. Give it two years and people will be parking their kids in front of AI-generated children’s shows without a second thought. They’ll be getting mad at you for calling it slop, because they’ll feel impugned as parents. Other people will be getting mad because they have AI “friends,” or they’ve gotten addicted to using it at work or school to take shortcuts. It feels so good right now to shit on AI on the basis of its capabilities, but that is clearly *time-limited* and ultimately a failing strategy to contain and regulate AI. we have got to come up with something better, stronger.

The quality of animation you can create on your own is truly amazing. We really are just limited by our imaginations at this point. Go tell your story! Made in @runwayml in a few hours and a handful of gens.
