@1WesRebel Indeed. My ancestors who came from 1630-1750 assimilated well to the glorious cause. Unfortunately each generation of descendants got complacent in thinking others would do the same.

@FLBogjig @csa_appreciator Oh I agree. It’s a pipe dream. But never gonna protect conservative interests dividing north and south. Plenty of people in Ohio on the same page as Texas or SC. Getting wrecked by crony populist Republicans.
English

@TheAmRev @csa_appreciator The demographic decline started with Yankees. And there's no party that supports White conservatism.
English

@1WesRebel @Jeff_Davis1808 Just typical politicians. Wear the hats required to gain power and influence. He was an FDR new deal progressive working with black groups but also needed to appeal to his pro southern / Jim Crow base of Baltimore
English

@Jeff_Davis1808 Her father, Thomas D’Alesandro Jr, dedicated a major Confederate monument while serving as Mayor of Baltimore.
On May 2, 1948, he celebrated the unveiling of the Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson Monument (Lee-Jackson Monument) in Wyman Park.
What the devil got into Nancy?
English

@csa_appreciator Georgia and Texas are already minority majority
English

@csa_appreciator The south has way worse demographic trends than the Great Lakes and Midwest. I don’t see how white conservatism could afford to split the party in the future.

@MrSquashman He was pretty moderate on reconstruction no? Evolving away from the radical faction…

My family is from Morgan County, Ohio, named after Revolutionary War hero Daniel Morgan.. a distant relative of John Hunt Morgan.
Ironically, during Morgan’s Raid, John Hunt Morgan and his men camped along the Muskingum River and “terrorized” the county named for his own ancestor.
Regardless, I think the local memory shows that Morgan’s daring and fighting spirit were admired even north of the Ohio River.
Morgan High School’s mascot is the Raiders, named after Daniel, mascot after John. Until a few years ago, the logo even featured a gray uniformed raider.
Naturally, that did not survive the woke boredom of COVID. The sanitization of history required changing the uniform from gray to blue.

Echoes of War@EchoesofWarYT
Historical marker noting Morgan's activities at Brandenburg, Kentucky, where his forces captured two steamboats, the John B. McCombs and the Alice Dean, before crossing the Ohio River into Indiana

It is very cool.
Ohio was settled by so many Virginia revolutionary war veterans via land bounty grants and thus carries a ton of counties named after Revolutionary war heroes and founders (as well as some incorporated after 1812 named for 1812 heroes like Jackson).
This is largely my family genealogy / migration story as well.

I'm currently reading John Gordon's book on SC's role in the War for Independence. Daniel Morgan has just been mentioned as he arrives in SC, but I haven't gotten to Camden or Cowpens yet. It's amazing that these men live on in all the places named for them. I'm from a town named for Benjamin Lincoln.

Man, I am completely blown away by all the prayers. The procedure was a success, and he is officially in recovery!
Next up, we are continuing to pray for a spontaneous recovery to resolve his vocal cord paralysis. To give you a little context...he was born full term and healthy, but has a rare, idiopathic condition where both vocal cords are paralyzed. This leaves a very narrow passage for him to fill his lungs with oxygen.
The good news is the doctor tells us this often resolves on its own by the time babies turn 2. The trach will allow him to breathe safely and easily until then. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts

@AccentsSouthern I’m on the market for one just like that. A 1987 DJ (birth year) either with stick or Roman indices but white dial. Love the look! I have a modern submariner that I wear most days.
English

@TheAmRev Good eye! Haha. It’s a 36mm 1980s Datejust.
I’m a watch guy but don’t have the budget to be a collector lol. I wanted one nice watch I could wear throughout my life that wouldn’t go out of style though. Took me a bit to save for it, but I wear it almost everyday.
