It's a simple idea. You can even call it naive. But there are so many examples of why many people, professions, companies, organizations, and governments should be elevating rather than existing in today's march to mediocrity. It takes courage.

You can make your business distinct by having better voices on your customer service recordings and better training your live personnel. Few businesses and organizations consider this today or even notice that the voices they use are not pleasant or inviting.

The richest shoppers continue to snap up luxury goods at a record pace, writes WSJ. #Hermes which sells $10,000 handbags — saw sales climb 24% to $3.07 billion in the third quarter, despite raising prices by about 4% so far this year. It plans to lift prices by another 5% to 10%.

Electric car maker #Rivian is recalling almost all of its trucks, vans and SUVs over a loose bolt. The Amazon-backed EV startup is offering free repairs as it could “impede steering” or cause weird noises in as many as 12,200 vehicles. It's Rivian’s third recall this year.

A surge in shoplifting has Best Buy, Home Depot and other big box stores putting more goods under lock and key, reports WSJ. Some $70 billion worth of products were stolen from retailers in 2019 and that number has climbed sharply since the start of the pandemic.

#Starbucks has unveiled a US$450 million plan to revamp its North American stores with more automation, better ordering systems and faster technology to help it churn out its popular but more complicated drinks more efficiently. Starbucks aims to boost profits by 20% over 3 yrs.

#KimKardashian and former Carlyle Group consumer head Jay Sammons to launch public equity firm, SKKY Partners, with offices in Boston and Los Angeles. It will acquire/invest in consumer products, hospitality, luxury, e-commerce & media. Her mom, Kris Jenner is a partner.
