@robbypedrica@omgubuntu Ubuntu supports flatpak. Its a one liner terminal command to enable it. What Ubuntu doesn't do is ship with it installed by default.
If you like @rustlang so much, stop trying to hire all the active Rust team members to work on something else. Sponsor us instead! ✨💶
"We love Rust and your work on the language and standard libary, so how about you quit doing that?" —Startup founders in all of our inboxes. 🙄
@dmgblockchain Some people are upset over the stock options. SO's are completely normal! It's a mechanism to keep talented overachievers with the company! And it's an incentive to have all focused on increasing the share price.
Compiled languages > Interpreted languages
With the dawn of languages like Rust and Go, I'm really struggling to see a reason to write new software (for your company, for yourself, or for opensource) in an interpreted language.
@SwoorupJ@laurieontech I tend to agree with this. Some people can write overly complicated code for the sake of inflating their egos. However sometimes the programmer trying to decipher the code is just not at the level they need to be, and misinterpret elegant code as convoluted.
I'm sorry, but some TypeScript stuff is entirely unreadable.
Just spent hours trying to parse something in the codebase.
Still not entirely sure I understand it.
@js_luke_overflo I much prefer GitLab’s CI over GitHub actions, may just be because I’m more used to them. It has way more featured across the entire DevOps cycle in general without third party apps, and I think the UI is somewhat cleaner. I also just don’t trust Microsoft haha
Printed and e-book versions of C++ Best Practices are now available!
There are 3 different ways to buy it, so keep reading!
(I make approx the same royalty regardless of how you buy the book.)
The printed version is 144 pages, I set the price to reflect the length.

u can’t sell houses u don’t own
u can’t sell cars u don’t own
but
u *can* sell stock u don’t own!?
this is bs – shorting is a scam
legal only for vestigial reasons
@hyperalp@nixcraft Bpytop is awesome, would like to see the code base split of into modules though, and maybe using nuitka to compile a single binary and speed it up a bit
