STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART; In March, I told my girlfriend, whom I’ve been with for eight months, that I wanted to make our relationship official. We agreed to begin preparations for a Kukyala ceremony scheduled for the end of this month. She explained that because both she and her parents were not ok financially, I would have to cover all the expenses. She gave me a budget of 5 million shillings, which I agreed to. I gave her all my savings ,2 million shillings and promised to provide the balance by the middle of this month. However, a few days ago, she informed me that she had used the money I gave her on “personal things” and that none of it remained for the Kukyala preparations. She apologized and then gave me a new budget, this time increasing it to 7 million shillings. I love her and still want to marry her, but I’m hurt and disappointed by what happened. Some of my relatives are willing to lend me the money, but I’m hesitant to ask. At this point, I’m also questioning whether I should still go ahead with the ceremony. Please advise. Pius
