In this weekend's #SUSPrezSaturday , we are inspired by the career of Dr. Timothy R. Billiar @trbilliar @TheBilliarLab @UPMC , the 61st @UnivSurg President. Dr. Billiar has done it all. Extraordinary leader, mentor, sponsor, scientist, teacher, innovator, surgeon, and devoted to his family. He is the recipient of the 2023 SUS Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest honor from our society. He will have also mentored 5 additional SUS Presidents from @UPMC @UPMCnews at the conclusion of Dr. Chu's Presidency in 2026. His 2001 SUS Prez speech, "Routine Complexity" examined the value of what we do as university surgeons, the factors that have led to the current state, and the importance of advocacy in affecting future trends.
