I definitely think there's an argument to be made for Rojas No. 1 at this point. Or like a 1A/1B thing. I think he'll be viewed as more expendable all the same because of Shaw and Ramirez, but he's a hell of a prospect right now.

ASB and post-draft updated prospect rankings. 1. Jefferson Rojas 2. Josiah Hartshorn 3. Jaxon Wiggins 4. Cade Townsend 5. Owen Ayers 6. Ethan Conrad 7. Kaleb Wing 8. Caden Sorrell 9. Kane Kepley 10. Juan Tomás Next 5, alphabetically: Bailey, Beck, Blomker, Cabada, McGwire

Position-player groups like this (and especially the kind of season Pete Crow-Armstrong is having) do not come around frequently. The Cubs need to be aggressive to upgrade the pitching staff with that.

Great road trip by the Cubs going into the All-Star break. Getting through the pitching situation the way they did is super impressive.

What are we doing here? Ball is in the glove, foot is not on the base, but is ruled safe.

@TheBlogfines So sick of MLB review right now. That is the definition of indisputable…… the bag did not move until after the ball was in the back of the glove Spend 45-60 seconds on that, but yet spend minutes on a guy possibly coming off the bag for .001 of a second.

That sure looked like an inning-ending double play after review. 🙄

Pete Crow-Armstrong now has an 11.1 BB%. He entered at 12.4% there, and with a .409 OBP vs. lefties, before his leadoff walk vs. Andrew Abbott. This is after he had an MLB-worst .217 OBP vs lefties last season. Just a mind-blowing improvement.

Florida State 1B Myles Bailey is quite polarizing. He whiffs an unbelievable amount for a notable draft prospect. But he has a 114.3 MPH 90th EV and 23.9° HH LA. May be some of the freakiest power ability on the planet? Hard profile to evaluate, but the homer tape is so fun.

Pete Crow-Armstrong is on a RIDICULOUS heater 🔥 Mark DeRosa dives in on the @Cubs All-Star and his swing decisions this season, after his 2-HR game last night. “He's starting to figure out who he is.”

@Davey_Baseball And my hope would be that he's not too expensive as a rental who is currently hurt and has a very limited track record of starting/durability. Basically, part of the appeal is actually related to perceived question marks dropping his price a bit, but the upside is great.

@Davey_Baseball And Clay Holmes with this defense is a perfect pairing on paper. Like, I'd have real hopes of ace-like production from him on this team (and he's been a top-20 SP results-wise when out there the last two years even on the Mets!).
