The teams are doing some very cool stuff. Stay tuned. Thank you to @Brushbeater and thank you to the incomparable @wayofftheres. P.S. some of your lucky folks will be getting some nice little field manuals with your patches courtesy of @Brushbeater as well.

//Hopoyoksa// May 2026 Welcome back Scalpers! I want to take a moment and thank @Brushbeater for joining us for last month's discussion. A lot of invaluable information was shared, and we look forward to featuring him again in the future. If you weren't able to make the discussion it was recorded so it's available for you to go back and give it a listen. For the month of May we're back to a fiction book, and it happens to be one of my favorites. As always, our brother @jcanada78 is here for the intro. What’s up Scalpers, it’s me again (what are they thinking?) and we’ve made it to month 3. Are we still having fun? I know I am, but as a book nerd I can always read more. What did we think of last month with @Brushbeater? Pretty good stuff if you ask me. I know it is definitely something I'll be working on all summer with the nephew out on our treks into the back country. You should be too, it definitely takes practice to be proficient. Big shout out to NC Scout for taking the time to get involved and doing the spaces with us! I think we can all agree that we are better for it. On deck this month for our fictional flavor is Wrath of the Wendigo by Clay Martin AKA @wayofftherez. Gotta be honest here; I've read this book a couple of times now and checked out the audio version of it too. Truly an absolutely wonderful, creepy and terrifying read. The first time I picked it up I stayed awake all night reading it. It was also the one that introduced me to his other works. Both Concrete Jungle and Prairie Fire are must-have items for your bookshelf. Barbarian Spirit is fantastic as well, read that with an open mind and you'll be pleasantly surprised. So, what can I say about “Wrath” without giving away anything? How about this... Set in the not-too-distant future we have government plots, evil cabals, and pagan beauties. Duty, honor and questions of what it means to be a human. Mix in some extremely plausible possibilities of a future that is rapidly heading towards us and you're left with a 5 star, most definitely recommended book to read that's perfect for this month. It's the intro for it that I can't wait to ask him about. Now what can be said about Clay? Most definitely an interesting cat to say the least. Our very own High Priest of shooters and another of the sharp ends of the spear from the GWOT. From what I've seen he's a man of strong opinions, brutal honesty and an honorable soul. Clay is an excellent voice out there, routinely active on multiple podcasts and his own videos. He's always trying to teach the “normies”. We can all learn a whole lot from him. As a bridge Veteran (someone should ask him about that) I think his most important work now is within the PTSD world. He's become an outspoken advocate for alternative treatments. Giving voice to a subject that most are happy to gloss over. Thanks for sticking with me through this. Keep up the training, did you dry fire today? Stay being the good and the whimsy out in a world that’s losing its way. Month 3 of our awesome and nerdy book club is upon us! So, dive into Wrath of the Wendigo and enjoy it. Again, I loved it and I'll bet you do too. As always we'll have a discussion via X Spaces on 5/24/26 at 1700EST to go over the story and chat with the author. Thank you to every one that participates, you are what makes this thing awesome. Yakoke Scalpers!

On that note… Rules for today: 1. Let nobody mistake your kindness for weakness. But do not feel the need to display power unless necessary. 2. Have the capacity to be a best friend, or a worst enemy. But know that the best way to get rid of an enemy is to turn him into a friend. 3. Do not hinder your creative mind. 4. Do not be intimidated by the weak and evil. 5. No Scalper is ever alone.
