@WembyCentral @crakkedth @TPh1l1pp @teorrainn317 @Roaridon1 In competitive leagues, there are tough teams at the bottom. They’re tough because they are hard to score against even for top teams. You either cheer for Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, or Bayern… or you deal with the facts that tactics matter

@hobidyhobs Jude is never leaving Real Madrid for Arsenal. He & his mother made the correct decision by having his entire professional career be away from England. He's better for it

Who is the second defender in a Rice-Odegaard-Jude midfield? If your answer is Jude, you’re wrong. He is the dynamic final third player. Odegaard? Doesn’t have the physicality nor the dynamism of Bernardo, Pedri etc. Not dynamic/direct enough for 10 either.

@Dezildezzzz The same Eze who was famously cut from Arsenal? Who wasn't offered a professional contract from Millwall? Who went to college before trialing at QPR at 18 years old? He's famously not been the most talented in all stages of his career. This is engagement drivel

Eze's issues aren't quality related, he is supremely gifted technically with great physical qualities to elevate his style if he wants. Issue is he lacks intensity in his game, he rarely gets out of 1st gear, maybe its a symptom of being the most talented all stages of his career

🚨Arsenal could be without eight players for opening pre season fixtures after World Cup progress England’s victory over Norway has confirmed that Arsenal could be without as many as eight first team players for the opening stages of pre season with several stars now set to feature in the latter rounds of the World Cup. The semi finals featuring Spain vs France and England vs Spain are scheduled for August 14th and 15th meaning those involved are unlikely to report back to Arsenal in time for the clubs opening friendlies. Martin Ødegaard & Norway were eliminated from the tournament allowing the Arsenal captain to begin his mandatory three week summer break. Players are entitled to a minimum of 21 days off unless they choose to return earlier although clubs generally encourage them to take the full recovery period. That timeline would see Ødegaard return during the week beginning August 3rd as a result he is expected to miss Arsenal’s opening pre season match against Girona on August 1st although a return against Real Betis in Dublin on August 5th remains a possibility if he is deemed match ready. Otherwise his first appearance could come in the Emirates Cup clash with Borussia Dortmund on August 9th. For Arsenal’s eight remaining World Cup semi finalists involvement against Girona and Real Betis appears highly unlikely. David Raya, Mikel Merino, Martin Zubimendi, William Saliba, Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke and Declan Rice are all still involved in the tournament. Even if any are eliminated at the semi final stage their expected return would likely come after the trip to Dublin due to the required post tournament break. Several of those players including Rice, Saka and Saliba, have also managed fitness concerns during the competition. Rice was reported to have been dealing with illness, although England manager Thomas Tuchel insisted his substitution against Norway was purely a tactical decision.

Okay, it's about time we address the elephant in the room. I'm not sure many of us wanted the signing in the first place, but we still got behind him and hoped he'd prove us wrong. At this point, though, I'm finding it hard to keep doing that. It's one thing to play poorly; it's another to look like you're not learning or improving. With Madueke, it's always the same story: plenty of promise, but very little end product. If we're serious about competing for the biggest trophies, we need to be ruthless with underperforming players. Chelsea seem willing to do that with Garnacho, and Arsenal need to adopt the same mentality. The truth is, he hasn't shown that he's better than either Ethan or Max, and that's a problem. You never know what you're going to get from him, and neither do his teammates. That inconsistency can't be accepted at a club with Arsenal's ambitions. For me, we have to really consider moving him on.

All 4 favored past champions won their quarterfinal matches. We will have an old champion win another title yet again. Of the 211 nations, the champions club is remains exclusive
Potato Head@TheBotterBaron

There have been 22 World Cup tournaments not including the current. Only 8 of 211 FIFA countries have won Brazil (5) Italy (4) Germany (4) Argentina (3) Uruguay (2), France (2) England (1), Spain (1) 4 of the 8 quarterfinalists are former champions. They are all favored to win

@SirLeoBDasilva This is such childish view of the sport. Harry's pressing, hold up play, passing range, ball retrieval, tackling, etc. are all better than Haaland. Haaland has improved quite a bit in his hold up play and passing since Dortmund, but he's far from the finished product

@IvanUkaegb93726 We can only judge him for how he performed in his role for Norway while knowing his roles for club & for country are not the same. We've seen what healthy & rested Odegaard can do. The club trusts him so should supporters. He's won league. He'll win Europe #COYG

I've seen a lot of praise for Ødegaard after yesterday's game and throughout the tournament, and it's deserved. He's been excellent for Norway. But I don't understand the "this is the Ødegaard we've been missing" narrative, because this is exactly who he's always been. He's always been an outstanding tempo controller, constantly available, recycling possession, dictating play, and helping his team maintain control. That's been his game for years, both for Arsenal and Norway. Nothing has changed. The issue has never been his quality; it's his profile. Ødegaard isn't a natural No. 6, nor is he the type of No. 10 who consistently stays high, combines with the front three, and produces decisive actions in the final third. That's exactly the profile Arsenal still lack, and why we're looking to add players like Bruno Guimarães, who also brings control but offers more physically. Even at this tournament, Ødegaard still takes a lot of touches and slows play down at times. He's playing well, but he hasn't suddenly become an elite final-third creator. He's still the same exceptional player he's always been. The problem is that Arteta has clearly moved away from a midfield that suits Ødegaard's best role as a No. 8. As things stand, playing him still comes at the cost of our final-third progression because he doesn't naturally complement two deeper midfielders or consistently support the striker and wingers. We saw that throughout last season. So praise his performances, they deserve it. But let's not pretend he's undergone some transformation that will suddenly solve Arsenal's attacking issues next season. Unless he makes a major adjustment to his game, the same tactical problems will still be there.

@_ArsenalTeam All I can say is he was keeping himself fit for the worldcup. He has been immense for Norway and was giving his all. He wasn't doing that for us last season. Injury is an excuse I refuse to believe. The kep pointer is how he was approaching duels for us vs the national team.

The best 4 teams on paper making the semi finals is cool. But… only Madueke/Saka represent an attacker playing from the Premier League in any of the 4 starting XIs. That’s a worry for the league.
