Words to live by.
Be A King@BerniceKing

This #MLKDay, remember my father by: Amplifying and advocating for the end of state-sanctioned and facilitated violence against Black and Brown immigrants and against people, period. Speaking up for people who are suffering genocide in Sudan. Palestine, Congo, and other nations. Calling and writing your Congresspersons in support of democracy as opposed to dictatorship. Supporting policies to eradicate poverty (higher minimum wage, affordable housing, etc) Learning the truth about and challenging anti-Black racism, which is still prevalent in healthcare, media, lending practices, the criminal “justice” system, etc. #MLK #MartinLutherKingJr #MLKDay2026

We love seeing this youth power! Kids are watching and listening. They won’t forget this time in their lives. Let’s make sure we’re doing right by them in our classrooms, living rooms, and communities.

This is a good rundown of how SNAP benefits are utilized in America as well as the demographics. A lot of people seem to think those who qualify for benefits must be lazy and entitled. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

This is an amazing initiative that illustrates how education can be melded to achieve a better future for the students. Not every child learns the same way—but utilizing something like debate encourages kids to think critically.

This is a conversation that always needs to happen. Institutional racism, generations deep, has led to this inequality. Black people often have to work twice as hard for a portion of the pay; for Black women, it’s even more. Listen, learn, and engage.

As AI data centers sprout across America, the incomprehensibly large amount of electricity and water they require, and pollution they generate, will harm low-income communities. We’re already seeing it in Memphis. This is just environmental racism reimagined for the 21st century.

It’s so important to show up and invest in our communities. It starts at the bottom. Even the smallest gestures can foster a sense of belonging and help stem the tides of gentrification. The Black middle class of America, and our children, depend on it.
