For an instant, it reflected back onto his vestments and looked like a tongue of flame leaping up out of the chalice. I don’t know if anyone else saw it but I sure did.

One morning the priest, Father Hans as I recall, was wiping the cup clean towards the end of Mass and I had a wonderful moment of inspiration. The light in the chapel caught the interior of the bowl just right as his hands worked. ➡️

St Cecilia’s is the cathedral of my home diocese in Omaha, NE. I would often attend morning Mass there while in OCIA class. Since I wasn’t confirmed as a Catholic in full communion yet, I would instead receive a blessing rather than the Eucharist. 🧶➡️
