Something about the Mike Pilavachi situation that I keep thinking about and which hasn't yet been answered... 🧵

Hi All! @durham_uni have a research project seeking to listen to the voices and perspectives of those who were directly harmed by Mike Pilavachi. This is in response to the way none of the processes (CDM, Scolding Review etc) so far have really listened to those harmed.

Natalie Collins has done immense & personally costly service to the entire @churchofengland as well as the particular victims of Mike Pilivachi’s abuse @SoulSurvivorGB With so many who are grateful for her clear prophetic & Christlike voice I wish her well as she sets down this work to concentrate on other things in her life. In this Natalie’s final post she focuses in on a number of issues that many of our Christian siblings find it difficult to name: our cultures of secrecy, of celebrity & patronage, of the abused silenced by entering into an abusive system & bolstering it. I have focussed my concern on those who are unambiguously complicit in all of this. But there are few clear binaries in this situation, and that is incredibly challenging.”

I cannot tell you how depressing it is that Megan is no longer at Premier after her stellar work on Soul Survivors while JJohn is guest editing the magazine after continually endorsing Mike Pilavachi & encouraging Russell Brand so much he’s now baptising in his tighty whiteys.
