Be careful when taking to heart advice like "if they don't initiate contact, they don't care" or "nobody's too busy, you aren't important." Testing it will lead to isolation and getting angry with everyone for perceived abandonment.
They say "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen" but in my case, when the pressure of a fancy job became too much it meant a return to the kitchen. The restaurant biz may be a fallback but at least I'm in my element.
and suddenly, i didn't care about being noticed, understood, spoken to, texted back, liked, disliked, invited, or talked about. it's quiet now, and i finally found MYSELF.
