We ended up talking about referees instead of talented players. We end up debating laws rather than great tactics and team performances. Unfortunately it's what the masses want. They want Love Island, Mr Beast and load of other shite I can't get my head around. It's very boring.

Football has an attention economy issue. Controversy beats actual sporting fairness. Tribalistic banter beats a boring 2-0 result. Traditional media and social get a lot more engagement from controversy than a professional performance. It's not the beautiful game.

Might be worth taking the piss out of people who hit 200 yard slices with their driver if you can earn a few quid out of it
