For the first time since becoming parents, one of our kids won’t be coming on a family trip. Our oldest just got his first job. He’s still in training, so he made the choice to stay behind with my in-laws while the rest of us go. Parenting is such a strange kind of heartbreak. You spend years teaching them to be independent, then one day they are. You feel so much pride in who they’re becoming. And so much pain in realizing they’re already starting to leave.

Told my son to throw in the grocery order whatever he needed.
I’m not sure what’s going on but his order looks like a 10 yr old that was sent into a gas station with a $100 dollar bill.
