Ghana has more university graduates today than at any point in our history. Literacy has gone from under 60% to over 80% in two decades. A lot more Ghanaians can read and write today. So why are things still not working? Since 1993, it’s been the same two parties. NPP and NDC. Taking turns. Promising to fix corruption. Promising to fix Ghana. Here is a fact: In 2014, Ghana scored 48 out of 100 on the global corruption index. Today we score 42. The lower the score, the more corrupt. We have gone backwards. Both parties have been in charge. Both have failed. We are not fighting corruption. We are losing to it. Roads, jobs and basic services are still not where they should be. Life is still hard for the ordinary Ghanaian in a country sitting on gold, oil and cocoa. And yet this same educated generation wakes up every day and defends these parties online like their lives depend on it. Not with facts. With blind emotion. The parties are not the problem. Our silence and our loyalty to them is. It is time to hold them accountable. Both of them. Equally. Think. Please.

Today, I travelled for over 3 hours to Agona Odoben in the Central Region to meet 5-year-old twins, Robert and Roberta. They have been abandoned by both parents and live with their grandmother, who is doing her best but simply does not have the means. They are currently not in school because of this, and even basic things like food and clothing are a struggle. I got to know about them through my friend @nyc_kelvin, and I just knew I had to show up for them. So today, we went to see them and began the process of enrolling them in school. We have made arrangements for their uniforms and learning materials to enable them to start school this month. It really does take one moment, and people choosing to care, to change the entire course of a child’s life for good. Robert and Roberta deserve a chance at a better future, and we are going to do everything we can to make sure they get it. ❤️

Did you know that in Ghana, investigators can legally read your messages, listen to your calls and access your data without telling you? It’s in the Cybersecurity Act, passed in 2020 and here’s how it works: They go to the High Court quietly, without you present and without informing you. If the court approves, your network provider is legally required to hand over your information and stay silent about it. There are three levels: Your account details. Who you are, your address, your billing info. Your traffic data. Who you called, when, for how long, from where. Your actual messages and calls. The full content of what you said. For the first two, they just need to show the court “reasonable grounds” to suspect you. For the third, your actual conversations, they need a slightly stronger reason. National security. A serious crime. Economic interests of the state. That’s it. No warning. No notification. Your provider can’t even tell you it happened. This is not a rumour. It is Sections 69 to 74 of Act 1038, a law most Ghanaians have never read. Now you know 👍🏾

Have you read anything today? The Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) was passed in 2020 and is a model piece of legislation that we are working to strengthen under our legislative review process. For God and Country. 🦁🇬🇭

24th January 2022. A day I can never forget. I went to eat at Buka Hut at gbagada, just to treat myself and have a good day. Halfway through, my PERIOD came unexpectedly… and I had no pad, no backup, nothing. I didn’t even know. After eating, I decided to get ice Cream, because why not spoil myself a little more? As I stood up, I noticed people staring… but I didn’t understand why. It wasn’t until I got to the ice cream stand that a guy walked up to me quietly and said: “Excuse me… your backside is stained. Please, take my jacket to cover up.” In that moment, I wanted the ground to open and swallow me. But his kindness… it calmed me. No noise. No embarrassment. Just respect. He gave me his jacket, wrapped it around me, and even offered to order me an Uber home. I insisted on paying, but honestly, I was just grateful someone chose kindness over ridicule. I asked how I’d return his jacket. He smiled and said, “Don’t worry about it.” But I took his number anyway…🥰 Today, that same man is my DARLING HUSBAND.😍 And funny enough, Buka Hut is still our favourite spot till today. ❤️ Sometimes, love doesn’t start with butterflies.🦋 Sometimes, it starts with kindness in your most vulnerable moment.✌🏼💖
