The outcome? A self-reinforcing cycle of debt, prosecution, and prolonged incarceration. We partnered with @CampaignZero to break down the outdated laws that make this possible. Learn more at endpaytostay.org

The U.S. prison system is billing people for their own incarceration. In 48 states, jails and prisons charge incarcerated people pay-to-stay fees. But with average wages as low as 13 to 52 cents per hour, even basic costs are often out of reach.

Our team worked closely with DOHMH to design and build an interactive report using @Esri's StoryMaps platform, which makes the data accessible, engaging, and actionable.

What are the biggest public health hazards facing America’s biggest city? We’re proud to share the 2024 Jurisdictional Risk Assessment (JRA), our recent collaboration with the @nycHealthy, NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH).

Arjun brought a quiet confidence, deep curiosity, and unwavering thoughtfulness to every project. He helped set the standard for how we build and how we work as a team. We’re endlessly grateful for his time at The DataFace.

Arjun played a critical role in some of our most ambitious work — from elevating civic transparency with Replacing the Refs to visualizing the cost of care with HealthPrices.org.
