Desi Freeman The plot that twists and thickens Did you know Desi was a suspect in another double murder of 2 police officers back in 1998? No? Nor did I. Stay with me....... In 1998 detectives Gary Silk and Rodney Miller were on a stakeout in Moorabin when they were executed. A blue Honda civic was seen fleeing the scene. Anyone who knows anything about cars, knows the Honda civic was a good selling car. Desi Freeman, at that time owned a Honda civic and because of such he was a suspect in the execution. For months Desi was constantly harassed by police, dragged in for questioning with no evidence other than he owned a Honda Civic. It eventually came to light that the murder investigation of those 2 officers was riddled with police corruption. They just wanted their man, their fall guy and it didn't matter who it was, but it just happened to be Desi that was targeted. In 2001 Jason Roberts & Bandali Debs were arrested for the murders, they went on trial in 2003 and were found guilty of the murders. In 2020 Jason Roberts retrial was held and his conviction was quashed. The judge ordered a retrial due to evidence tampering by Victorian Police. The appeal judges said the misconduct of one officer had corrupted the initial trial "as to poison it to its root" In 2022 the supreme court jury found Roberts not guilty of murder, though he did self admit to armed robbery. The man spent 22 years in jail for the double murders he did not commit due to police corruption. Years of harassment led Desi to become scared and paranoid of police who had continued to harass him all of the years since. Now we have this latest event with more questions than answers.
