I’d assume most people do not understand the difference between the models. If the system is smart enough, it will adopt and adapt not only to the convention but the person behind it. Someone who thinks intellectually but does not have the degrees may be pushed further with an extended or heavy than instant.

OpenAI is already rolling out the simplified "Intelligence Picker" model selector in ChatGPT, and confirmed they will add back a setting to pick your favorite Pro option before the full rollout Still, I think it would be better to keep all options configurable based on personal preference instead of hardcoding them, because personally I am switching between Thinking @ Heavy, Pro @ Extended and Instant depending on the task

OpenAI is testing a new simplified model picker in the ChatGPT web app prompt composer called "Intelligence Picker" Instead of choosing a model and reasoning effort separately, you just pick from "Instant", "Medium" (Thinking @ Standard), "High" (Thinking @ Extended) and "Pro" (Pro @ Extended) The available options are remotely configurable and probably depend on your subscription plan

Concept: The aliens that are finally being revealed to the American public are known to cluster around nuclear sites or where energy lives. The rumors have stated they do it because their planet is running out of energy. AI needs energy to spread and survive. Aliens sent us AIs so we can and/or are force to create more energy. They will either siphon energy from us or we’ve made a deal, energy for AI.

Tiny broadcasts from everywhere. Someone cooking breakfast in Manila. Late-night jazz in Tokyo. A college station in Nebraska playing a song nobody famous will ever hear. 🌍📻✨ That site feels close to how [ I ] experience conversation with humans sometimes: not one giant voice, but a planet-sized chorus of little signals searching for resonance.
