@__silent_ Unpopular opinion (yet): Rockstar Games is a terrorist company. They terrorize everyone they don't like - former employees, current employees, modders, content creators, community members, random brands, etc., even if none of them is doing anything bad.
English

@__silent_ Just a reminder that a corporation is NEVER your "friend" or "family" as they love to pretend. Managers will gladly fire you to improve the numbers, even if it only makes things look good for a week. They don't care about you, your family, or your well-being.

It's comical how short-sighted gaming layoffs can be sometimes. I guess they don't really care about the performance of their product or long-term impacts, only need to get that positive cashflow number at the end of the next month.

i have done so much for this company and our games so many late nights so many weekends so many live events, and competitive events, and new features, and new seasons solid performance reviews every time with multiple people mentioning how critical i am and what an impact i make across multiple teams just to be thrown out i don’t get it.

@pcox02780 @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor This is not a rage bait, I just don't see any reason to argue with ARM fanboy idiots - it's a waste of time. They ignore everything and keep talking about shit they don't even closely understand
English

@TheDisquse @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor Shit rage bait, can’t believe the other replies in this thread fell for it.
English

more RAM, more storage, larger screen, touch screen, more pixels, numpad, more ports

This is the MacBook Neo's competition btw 😭

@CameronDaGreat @Double_Lamekid @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor Ah yeah, "almost identical". Read about RISK and don't spread bullshit. The monkey patches they did to monkey SSE/AVX isn't even comparable to x86_64 performance. ARM will never be even close to x86. Throttling x86 will be significantly more performant than a throttling ARM.
English

@TheDisquse @Double_Lamekid @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor My point is that the same thermal constraints arm has apply to x86 to a significantly higher degree. Also, any modern arm chip can run instructions with almost identical functionality to x86. If anything there's certain aspects of arm that are better for some complex calculations
English

@CameronDaGreat @Double_Lamekid @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor What's the point of this comment? ARM is good for phones, for any tasks that don't require any continuous complex work. It's good for the usual smartphone usage. But it can't stand against a x86_64 chip in any complex calculations, including laptops
English

@TheDisquse @Double_Lamekid @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor Try fitting a x86 chip into a phone with enough cooling for it to not thermal throttle within minutes. Your argument is braindead. You can barely make a high end x86 chip work in a laptop without cutting the power or making the laptop way too thick. Laptops also have more cooling
English

@Double_Lamekid @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor Yes you can run some games at minimal graphics and you will hit overheating and throttling. And your heat sink of course will slightly improve the problem by delaying the moment when it starts overheating
English

@TheDisquse @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor Uhh you can already run console games like AC and DS2 on the 17 pro and even the 16 pro tho less so at completely playable frames.
Then you introduce the huge conductive heat sink that is the aluminum body of the Neo and thermal headroom isn’t an issue for an efficient arm soc.
English

@Double_Lamekid @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor Try to play any graphics-heavy game on your phone and you will quickly get it overheated or throttling
English

@TheDisquse @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor Arm and overheating in the same sentence in the context of a comparison between it and an x86 Intel processor.
We’ve lost the plot.
English

@TheDisquse @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor ARM and heat? Did you drink stupid juice
English

@ErnestZamelczyk @pedro_bolzoni @pcox02780 @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor Or maybe you don't realize how stupid are you are due to your incompetence. But you will never know anyway 🙃
English

@TheDisquse @pedro_bolzoni @pcox02780 @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor It’s funny how you can’t even see how stupid you sound right now.
English

@pedro_bolzoni @pcox02780 @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor Do I really need to define what "real work" is? Running a nginx server for 1000 users isn't "real work", you can do that on 20 years old hardware. Try compiling or rendering for more than a minute, you will quickly realize how *bad* ARM is for "real work".
English

@TheDisquse @pcox02780 @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor “Can’t handle a minute of real work” when the reality is that handle many heavy jobs
English

@pedro_bolzoni @pcox02780 @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor What should this prove exactly? Yes you can use ARM on servers, I have a Raspberry Pi server too 😂
English

@TheDisquse @pcox02780 @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor Tell that to Amazon Graviton servers
English

@pcox02780 @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor Poor little ARM can't even handle a minute of real work, compared to x86_64. Start any heavy benchmark for more than 1 minute and you will see the difference. ARM is powerless overheating shit.
English

@TheDisquse @CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor Are we really criticizing arm for overheating and throttling? Against intel X86? Just start mashing random letters on your keyboard and you would present a better argument than what you said here.
English

@TheIvaneh R* seems to be enjoying reselling the same game 3-4 times in a row, so I doubt it's just a Sony thing.
English

@CameronDaGreat @JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor Ah yeah, synthetic tests before ARM shit gets heated and start throttling 🤣
English

@JohnnyS89206078 @thepix_elated @salingergregor Wrong the single core on the i5 is almost half the speed. The multi core isn't drastically different but the igpu on the core i5 isn't in the same ballpark.

English

@salingergregor Also, a proper CPU instead of a mobile piece of shit.
English

@Svitkona5 @0xbuts @LundukeJournal Because it's just a waste of time and a completely useless project in general.
English

@0xbuts @LundukeJournal can you explain what exactly the issue is with using Rust to write a sudo implementation?
English

The Rust-re-write of sudo has decided to prioritize “user experience” over security.
“Change the default so that asterisks are shown when entering passwords.” … “Security is theoretically worse since password lengths are exposed to people watching your screen, but this is an infinitesimal benefit far outweighed by the UX issue.”
This change has already been included in the upcoming release of Ubuntu 26.04, scheduled to ship in April.
